Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

If there is one thing Nashville has, it is good restaurants! Nashville has a wide variety of foods offered at an even more diverse variety of restaurants. There are hundreds of restaurants within 10 minutes of campus, and students take advantage of that. You can simply drive down Jefferson Street, West End Avenue, or Charlotte Pike and always find something to satisfy your taste. There are a couple of drawbacks to dining out, though—one being cost, the other being transportation. Although there are so many restaurants in the area, one can get a little tired of chicken and soul food, so a student may want to venture out into the outskirts of Nashville for a change. Eating out can be expensive; however, most restaurants near TSU give student discounts by showing your student ID card. In order to dine at all these great restaurants, though, it is crucial to have some type of transportation, because the restaurants within walking distance of TSU are mostly typical chain franchises without much uniqueness. There are a few places to take your parents or a date if you’re looking for good food at an affordable price. There are a number of great soul food places such as Harper’s and Swett’s that have great food and a good atmosphere. There are several more on West End and 21st avenues because they are close to Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities. For a date, you must try a local Italian restaurant because they are known for a great, intimate atmosphere with excellent food to share. The vast majority of restaurants in the area receive really good ratings and have friendly service, so you really can’t go wrong.
