Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Parking at TSU is an absolute nightmare! Most of the student population owns a vehicle due to the fact that the city is large and most people don’t want to bother with public transportation. Every student is allowed to have a car at TSU; however, they must register it and have the proper parking decal. If you obtain a parking permit, you are not guaranteed a parking spot! Even though there are several parking lots, approximately eight, there are not enough spaces to cover TSU’s entire student body. If you want to bring a car, make sure you schedule your classes beginning at 8 or 9 a.m., and try not to have any classes between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., because you will have to drive around for at least 15 minutes waiting for an opening. Very important advice is to wear comfortable shoes if you have a full day of classes because the parking lots are not near the buildings where the classes are, and starting around midterms, remember that the TSUPD gets really strict about illegally parking and will show no remorse for towing your car. Having your own vehicle is very important if you do not want to be stuck on campus all semester. A student will definitely need a car if they plan on touring the sites or going downtown to check out the nightlife. Many students at TSU work as well, so having a car is vital in taking them to and from their job. Parking in Nashville is almost as bad because there are not many places available around the city either. The best thing to do is find one spot and leave your car there all day or night if you are downtown or on campus.

Somewhat Horrible

I believe that there is not enough parking spots on campus. Sometimes individuals have to drive around parking lots multiple times in order to get a park.

Parking Is Time Consuming

Finding a parking place is a task almost any time I go on campus. The best way I have learned to deal with it is to park reasonably close and walk to class.
