For the most part, TAMIU students say they feel diversity is somewhat present on campus, even though the majority of students are Hispanic. There are African American, Indian, Arabic, Chinese, and Asian students on campus, but they have a small presence. There are also international students here. Most TAMIU students are interested in the cultural diversity that certain students bring to campus, and there is also an overall positive feeling toward the gay community on campus. In general, students here are really tolerant of all students on campus, regardless of their income, race, or gender, or political affiliation.

People from different races and ethnicities come together to develop friendships and pursue a higher education. Although most of the student population is Hispanic, there is a fair share of people from other races, and this diversification is probably what sets TAMIU apart in the city of Laredo. It's safe to say that the campus is still growing and trying to promote diverse interests across campus, so there is enormous potential here. Diversity is somewhat already present but has a strong potential to increase with time.
