If you have morning classes, it is recommended that you get to campus early in order to find a good parking spot. However, this does not mean the University has a parking space shortage—there are plenty of spots, but you might have to park extremely far from campus, making for long walks and tired feet. The most convenient places to park on campus are the Student Success Center, behind the Lamar Bruni Vergara Building, and behind Cowart Hall. Overall, parking isn’t too much of an issue, but it does get rather annoying and tense to compete against other drivers for that one parking spot close to the student center or library!
The most important factor to remember about parking at TAMIU is that you need to buy a parking permit or you run the risk of getting a ticket. If you’re caught parking without one, you could get a hefty citation, ranging from $50 to $150, depending on where a person parks. Apart from the fines, though, TAMIU parking is average in terms of availability and cost. Any student will tell you that you can find reasonable parking, unless you're not willing to walk that far for class.
