College Prowler Take

Students agree that the food on campus is somewhere between average and good, and they appreciate the day-to-day variety. There are many dining facilities that offer several options, so don’t worry about getting tired of any particular dish. Meal plans can be expensive, but students here do get a lot of food, and options, for the price.

There are several all-you-can eat cafeterias, giving A&M students the option of taste-testing as little, or as much, as they desire from semester to semester. There’s also pizza, burgers, and everything you can think of that’s both tasty and fattening. For those of you looking to fend off the Freshman 15, there are salad bars and delis where you can build your own healthy sandwiches. The best kept secret on campus is Cain Dining Hall in the athletic dorm. Athletes are catered to hand and foot, and Cain is little by little becoming known as the best cafeteria on campus, and maybe the entire city. Tuesday is steak night—and there’s nothing like a good ‘ol Texas-style slab of steak—but there are also other options available. Don’t be afraid to try every eatery on campus when you first get to A&M. It’s the only way to see what’s out there and find out what you like best.

Sbisa is pretty much run by the Northside residents. They have all these traditions and yells, and each dorm has its own personal table. I sat at one once, and all these boys came and sat around me—it was really intimidating.

I like the food a lot. There is a ton of variety, but I never get tired of eating Chick-fil-A. There are cafeterias on every side of campus. You never have to walk far to get something to eat.

I don’t live on campus, but the food that I’ve had has been really good compared to the school I went to my freshman year. The dorm food isn’t bad. They have a cafeteria called Sbisa with anything you can think of.

I am not too picky about food, but I can tell the difference between good and bad, and I think we have pretty good food. I am an athlete, and we have our own dining hall, but I have eaten at other dining halls and the food was good there.

Did You Know?

There are guest meals that come free with every meal plan purchase. For example, if you purchase a plan with five meals per week, you get five free guest meals for the semester, so your friends that don’t go to A&M—or your parents—can eat free with you on five seperate occasions. Most students don’t know about these, and it’s a great resource if someone drops in for a visit.
