Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

“Aggies do not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate those who do." This is the A&M honor code that all students must abide by. Every Aggie knows this code and understands that there are serious consequences for breaking it. Professors especially take cheating seriously. Students can also get in trouble for other thing, as well. An example is parking illegally—sometimes it seems like campus police fall from the sky like ninjas to write parking tickets. When it comes to alcohol, it seem like the campus police don't get on your case as much as the RAs. However, since most of the RAs are students, too, they don’t take a terribly strict stance toward drinking.

If you’re 21, it’s okay to have alcohol in your dorm room, but make no mistake: many unfortunate students are caught drinking underage on campus. If you’re underage (which most on-campus residents seem to be), exercise caution—don’t push the limits, and you’ll be less likely to have the whistle blown on you. Campus won’t hunt you down to find out what you’re doing, but if you’re discovered doing something wrong, there are consequences. And it’s going to be something you probably won’t like. But just remember, you'll only find trouble if you’re looking for it.

Good Balance

With the discipline that I have seen on campus all problems are acknowledged, however theres not always strict disciplenary action. I have seen people cheating in class and it seems like some of the professors look the other way (not all professors). Also, I know people who have gotten in trouble for underaged drinking on campus a couple times and no real consequinces were given.

Campus Strictness

There's no alcohol allowed on campus. You need to maintain over a 2.0 gpa to not be on academic probation.

Aggie Strictness

I believe that Texas A&M is strict in the areas that it needs to be in. There is not an over strictness that takes the fun out of everything but there is enough to keep things going well and in control.
