College Prowler Take

Campus police will usually invest much of their time enforcing parking violations, rather than underage drinking. If you park illegally, they will fall from the sky like ninjas, and you will be written up immediately, but campus police doesn’t really seem to care about anything else on campus. It’s the RAs that enforce drinking rules, and most of them are students, too, so they don’t take a terribly strict stance toward drinking. But, make no mistake, many unfortunate students are caught drinking underage on campus. It probably won’t happen to you, but don’t rule out the possibility.

If you’re 21, it’s okay to have alcohol in your dorm room.
Most students on campus aren’t 21, though, and should exercise caution. Don’t push the limits, and you’ll be less likely to have the whistle blown on you. If you’re caught, there are consequences. Campus doesn’t hunt you down to find out what you’re doing, but if they should discover that you’re doing something wrong, they are going to do something about it that you probably won’t like. Other than drinking, drugs, and parking, campus police really don’t worry
about much.

Strict Honor Code Pretty Leniant in Other Ways

B+

Texas A&M is proud of the Aggie Honor Code which is a promise every aggie makes to be honest and never cheat. Other then that Texas A&M is pretty leniant about everything.

You are not allowed to drink at University events. I think some dorms are even becoming dry, although I’m not really familiar with dorm policies. Drugs are, of course, illegal anywhere.

Campus police are pretty strict, but if you really try not to get caught, you won’t.

I think they’re pretty strict if you get caught with alcohol. I went to several dorm parties my freshman year that never got busted or anything, so I think a lot of it depends on how cool the RA is and if he or she decides to really come down and bust you for it. It seems like they are stricter about candles in the dorms than alcohol. I saw lots of drunk people coming home late on the weekends, unbothered, but my RA came in when I had candles lit and put them out.

The RAs don’t come and raid your room for alcohol. Unless you’re obvious about it, you can’t get in too much trouble.
