Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

What we all learned throughout middle and high school is to "Say no to drugs,” but what about college? Of course, nearly all universities have some presence or problems with drugs, but fortunately A&M isn't really one of them. A&M students agree that the most abused substance on campus is alcohol, mainly due to all the bars and because the University does not have a dry campus. It is still possible to gain access to other drugs, but they're less popular. Of all the illegal drugs on campus, marijuana is the most popular, but even that isn’t very common.

College Station is a small city with little influence from the drug culture. It’s mostly a clean town, which gives students a better chance to stay in school and pass their classes. Remember why you’re in college—to get that diploma—and keep your eye on your goal. This will help you to avoid getting caught up in drinking and partying, which can take its toll just as much as harder drugs. College is all about choices and balance, and making the right choices will pay off in the end.

College Kids Like to Party

I have met a few people who smoked weed, but nothing more hard core than that. Occasionally kids take adderol to study. The biggest thing in the small town of College Station is drinking. There is a row of bars across the street from campus, and I dont have a single college friend that doesnt drink, at least occasionally.

Little Drug Use; Administrators Address Drug Usage.

There is not a large drug scene on campus at Texas A&M. The most visible drug usage is in the form of ADD/ADHD perscription drugs, also known as "study drugs". Students will use these drugs to keep them awake and help them focus when studying and doing school projects. The university has written articles, addressing this as a problem. I am glad that they realize that it is happening and have discussed the problem.
