The college is extremely conservative, one of the most conservative in the nation. With this there will come a lot of conflicting issues about the GLBT community. There was a recent well publicized in the Student Senate where a University Department (not club or group) was for GLBT and some student's took a moral issue to the University's student fees going towards this department to fund seminars at lavish costs to teach students things like proper anal sex. After an improperly titled and worded bill that was against GLBT was reworded and renamed to allow any student to opt out of any fee that they morally objected too religious or secular. A method that is debatably already in place but much harder to access. An extreme minority was extremely vocal in the matter and the issue received a large amount of negative press and the bill shortly died. A&M is one of the friendlies campuses on the nation and for the vast majority of students, even if they may personally disagree a persons values or choices, are extremely tolerant and give that absolutely no thought at all in a persons character.

The LGBT Center is a great resource for LGBTQ students, and everyone there is very welcoming and nice. Most students you will meet are accepting of the LGBTQ community, but definitely stay away from the Aggie Conservatives (the organization, not conservatives in general). Some groups like that are very backwards and quite hateful, but I haven't met many students who share their extreme views. There are definitely LGBTQ students here, so you will not be alone.

Even though A&M mainly consists of conservative guys and girls from the Southwest, you can literally find any type of student here—you just might have to search for them a bit more. The University has everything from the typical nerds to the all-night-party kind of guys or girls. Since the Texas A&M student body is huge, everyone is bound to find someone special here.

The hospitality here is Southern-style, so everybody at A&M is polite. Guys are always willing to hold the door open for you, no matter how far away you are, or give up their seat for you on a bus. Overall, whether you’re the shy type or the crazy type, there's someone here for you, whether it is a special someone or a best friend.

Orientation 2012! Orientation 2012! In orientation, after freshman dinner, students are put into groups and told to make up a team name, and think of catchy yell and sign for a friendly competition. It's an awesome way to meet people before school begins. This is a photo of an orientation group.
