During the day, you will see A&M students busy with classes and studying, but once the moon goes up, it’s a different story. Northgate, located just across University Drive on the north side of campus, is the most popular night-time hangout spot for Aggies—the area has plenty of bars and restaurants. Besides Northgate, there are some popular country western places, such as Harry’s and the Hall, but there are not many other types of clubs. At A&M, it’s all about the two-step, since the preferred type of music is country (remember, this is the Deep South!).
No matter how long you’ve been here, there’s always something new and fun to do, and there’s plenty of debauchery to participate in. If you do start to get bored, though, you can broaden your horizons and check out the nightlife in Houston or Austin. These cities aren’t too far away, and they offer a world of possibilities outside College Station. Regardless of where you prefer to go out, just do yourself a favor and don’t schedule an 8 a.m. class on Friday mornings because at A&M, the weekend starts on Thursday nights.
