College Prowler Take
Students agree that there are many options for off-campus living, just as there are with A&M’s dorms. Some students prefer to live in cheaper houses in Bryan, but sacrifice the convenience of living close to campus. Living off campus can also add up, since electricity, phone, cable, and Internet bills tend to add up, but most students think it’s worth it for the space alone. There are hundreds of apartments near campus, all at reasonable rates. Some say the secret is to try to get a house close to campus so you don’t have to search for parking on campus. The bus system is pretty good, too. There are routes from most apartments to different spots on campus.
It’s really nice having an oven and stove after living in the dorms for a year. Granted, you may not really have time to cook, but even microwave dinners seem to taste a little better off campus. You can’t really host parties in the dorms, so a place off campus is a must if you want to fit more than three people on the guest list. Just make sure your housing choice gives you transportation options to campus. Since College Station really expanded around the University, some of the first things to be constructed were off-campus houses and apartments. There are new ones constantly being built as well, so you should have no problem finding a temporary home away from home.
