College Prowler Take

The professors seem to know what they are doing at TCU,
and they understand how to teach, except for a few exceptions. With accessible and mostly understandable teachers, there is an emphasis on the learning process and an ease to its progression. Small classes create an intimate setting between professors and students, which makes the whole learning process more personal.

Like any college or university, there is some variety in the quality of professors here. Most TCU professors take an active interest in their students’ performances and are willing to help them succeed. Less personable professors are generally the exception, though, most students will encounter them at some point.

The majority of the teachers are...

The majority of the teachers are kind to their students and want to genuinely get to know their students as people rather than faces. The workload depends on the classes that each student takes. Some majors have more work than others and certain ones are notorious for having "the most" studying of all of them. TCU is known to have a low teacher to student ratio. The average class has around 25 students in it and the largest one is around 150 students. This allows the professors to get to know their students better and it allows the students to feel more connected to the professor and other students in the class.

Teachers really vary depending on the subject. You’re going to have some that are really tough, and others that aren’t so bad. I found my professors to be very friendly and helpful. They were very adamant about letting us know they were there if we needed assistance.

All the classes are small enough, and you can easily talk with your professors. The professors are very personable, and it isn’t scary talking to them at all. This is definitely a positive thing about TCU, and something that drew me to it.

The teachers at TCU are pretty decent, but it seems like a lot of them leave for other opportunities. The foreign language teachers seem especially great.

Did You Know?

TCU is constantly renovating to keep up with the broadening academic goals of its student body. Of nine schools, 106 majors are offered in such varying fields as fashion design, kinesiology, advertising, and theater.

TCU’s mascot, the Horned Frog, is actually a lizard. It has been the mascot of TCU since 1897—before the University changed its name to Texas Christian University.

It is tradition to rub the nose of the Horned Frog at the center of campus for good luck.

TCU has an endowment of over $800 million.
