Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most TCU students do not consider drug use to be a major part of their life. Students who desire drugs, however, are able to find them. The most common drugs on campus are alcohol and marijuana. Hard drugs like cocaine and ecstasy
are less common, but they occasionally surface. A survey conducted by the Office of Alcohol and Drug Education found that marijuana use is common among TCU students, but still under the national average.

The drug scene at TCU is what students make of it. Those who do not wish to be involved rarely come in contact with drugs. Campus Police uphold strict guidelines for students who violate TCU’s alcohol and drug policy, ensuring student safety and stability.

Drugs

Despite the drug bust experienced by TCU within the last few months, I have never encountered sufficient drug involvement. There will always be students who are more involved in illegal substances. It is easy to stay away from it if you are against illegal substances. Alcohol is the main social involvement. Students are often spotted at Aardvark drinking during the weekends. At the same time, there is a large portion of the population that does not drink. Alcohol is strictly prohibited on campus and highly enforced.

TCU & Drugs

I have never encountered much drug activity at TCU. I assume it is all about your circle of friends and who you surround yourself with. I suppose if you seek it out, you can find it, but I have never had any issues with usage of peer pressure. I have noticed that more people tend to smoke cigarettes when they go out. Also, in my opinion, drinking and drunk driving is more of an issue at TCU than drugs.

Drinking Is Big

The cops here are very chill as long as you don't have open alcohol containers. You wouldn't expect it but drinking is big here. There's definitely not as much "hardcore" drugs seen here or even weed. If you're greek, there's quite a bit of peer pressure to drink.
