Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

From the Rickel Recreation Center to the Brown-Lupton University Union (BLUU), all of the popular places on campus have been renovated and revamped within the last several years. The Rickel Recreation Center features many of the newest machines and a variety of weights, as well as a climbing wall, saunas, and racquetball courts. The BLUU is also well equipped for many student affairs, but in reality, it may fail to provide enough variety in the restaurant department.

Overall, campus is very well kept, and anything that hasn’t been renovated lately is sure to get its chance soon. The Rickel Recreational Center is of such high quality that alumni are given the opportunity to pay several hundred dollars annually to use the facilities. The library is home to 1.9 million volumes and an excellent online database, as well as the largest computer lab on campus. Other places on campus might not be quite as nice, but they are all, at the very least, sufficient.

Favorite Things To Do

Plays are often held in Ed Landreth Auditorium, Pepsico Recital Hall, or Hayes Theater. There are usually three performances per semester put on by our very own theater department. Most plays are free with a student ID, though you’ll have to pick up tickets a few weeks before to make sure that you get one in time for the performance. Student Government sponsors free movies, which are held on the lawn in front of Frog Fountain. Popular films from last year’s releases are chosen and displayed on a large screen. Free popcorn usually accompanies this event. Student recitals and concerts are held in Ed Landreth Auditorium during the year. They are free to students. Guest speakers occasionally come to campus. They usually speak at the BLUU Ballroom and are very often free to attend. Debates over various topics take place in the student center Lounge on a regular basis. These usually take place during the day, and many students walk through and observe the action on their way to class.
