Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

TCU offers a variety of off-campus living arrangements for students. We all know that dorm life is part of the college experience, and all freshmen and sophomores are required to live on campus. After that, however, if the dorm life is too expensive or not your style, off-campus housing is always a suitable alternative. University apartments are individually leased, so it’s possible that neighboring students could pay different rent and abide by different rules.

Living off campus gives students more freedom and responsibility. With that, however, comes rent and other living expenses. Convenience and parking are important issues, especially for students who do not live on campus. Off-campus apartments and houses may be somewhat inconvenient at times, but many TCU students enjoy the independence that off-campus housing brings to the table.

Housing Is Difficult but Always Seems to Work Out.

There are lots of homes for rent around campus but they go fast and are usually already rented by word of mouth. Also, the neighborhood is extremely nice therefore the houses are expensive. There are also apartments available but again quite expensive.

Housing

Off-campus housing around TCU is somewhat limited. The Grand Marc has a monopoly on students housing currently. They are the only apartment complex within walking distance to campus. For this reason, they raise the cost of living significantly and for the price and somewhat scummy. Rental houses are available in the area and are easy to obtain. These off-campus options are much better than the Grand Marc. The rent is reasonable and the houses have been kept well over the years. The neighborhoods surrounding campus are safe for the most part. Every so often there will be a crime alert but I have never felt unsafe while walking around TCU at night.

Off-Campus

Off-campus housing is an exciting thing to look forward to. At TCU you can only live off campus if you are a an upper class men. The houses are nice and I think it is adequate enough, but with the growing number of students I feel like we should expand the housing availability.
