College Prowler Take

Fort Worth has more than just one season, like some parts of Texas. In fact, it has all four. The weather tends to be fairly moderate. Winters are mild, though average low temperatures drop to around 30 degrees in early to mid-January. Spring and fall are pleasant, though both are relatively short.

Most of the time, students are comfortable in jeans and a
T-shirt, but Texas weather is unpredictable, so students should come prepared for any type of weather. Most students learn to appreciate, or at least deal with, Texas weather. Once you enroll here, it’s not like you have a choice.

The weather is okay. It can get pretty humid, which does suck, but for someone like me, it is a good thing. Sometimes it rains, and in the winter it gets kind of cold, but Texas has four seasons, and they are all bearable. I like the rain, so it doesn’t bother me much, but I also like the sun—Fort Worth gets plenty of that.

The summers can be warm, 90s and 100s is normal, with some humidity. That doesn’t last long during the school year—the worst is in August. Fall is wonderful, you can wear shorts usually until October. Winters aren’t that bad. We do get ice storms and some snow. Jeans and sweaters are the normal attire. Spring is much like fall, temperature-wise. It will either rain a lot, or not at all, and we can get tornadoes. Spring can be kind of funky. One day you will be in shorts and it will be in the 80s, and the next it will be in the 60s and you’ll have to break out a jacket.

There is warm weather nine months out of the year. I never knew that you could actually wear a skirt in November or February and not be cold! We do get snow about once a year, but it doesn’t stay very long. The weather changes daily. I would say bring mostly summer clothes, some pants, sweaters, and one jacket.

It never gets too cold here—I am from Indiana, so I know what cold is! Yes, winter does come, but it goes pretty fast! From about January until the first week of February, you need a coat. Throughout the rest of the year, it’s comfortable for whatever you feel like wearing: jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, or skirts!

It’s hot, hot, hot. You’ll need a jacket in the winter, but nothing heavy—bring rain gear. Don’t be afraid of tornados or heavy thunderstorms. Did I mention hot? Humid? Still hot?
