Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Most people who first look at this small school have doubts about its overall size. But it is not about the buildings or the square footage of campus that's important: it's the people. TLU's slogan is, "Small Classes, Big Difference." This is very true. Students have a lot of interaction with professors, and the one-on-one attention is key. Getting to know professors helps light a fire for many students because they want to be the best they can be for the professors. Many students say that TLU helped them realize what they're interested in, what they enjoy learning, and what they want to do with their life. As a small private school, TLU doesn't have the same bells and whistles as a lot of large, state-funded schools, but TLU has an atmosphere that makes students feel right at home.

This is a small school, so if you come in with the wrong attitude, you will obviously leave with one. With a positive attitude, most students leave with a solid educational foundation and a solid social circle. And, just like at any school, there will be immature students and students whose minds have not yet left the world of high school, but stupidity is everywhere, and if you use that as evidence against any prospective school, you will be sorely depressed. TLU is truly a great place where good things happen.

Non Existent Transportation

There is no transportation at or near the school. Students without their own vehicle are out of luck.

Safe. but Dark

The campus was kept safe. Nothing ever happened on campus when I was there, but it is rather dark at night. The school could put in more lighting so that the area around the sidewalk could be seen better.

Small Class, Very Helpful Professors

Most professors are very knowledgeable and want to help there students. The classes are informative and valuable. The classes are all small. The school promises no classes will ever be over 50 students and most classes are around 20 students. It is a great, small, liberal arts school.
