Some off-campus housing is really nice, but happens to be less affordable. However, where I live is very affordable, but in poorer condition. It's very frustrating when you live close to campus and the complex does not regulate parking permits, so any student will park there and walk to class.
As far as the condition of the apartment complex, it isn't terrible and does the job for a college student. If you want more, and can afford it, explore all options. There are some places which have very affordable rent, even similar to the poor condition apartment I'm in, but you have to already have roommates picked out.

I love San Marcos and, for the most part, the school too. Sometimes, I am reminded how moneygrubbing some universities are, Texas State being one of them. Also, the Greek life is pretty big here. Those involved in it usually just hang out with others in fraternities and sororities, but I have felt I was disrespected a couple times engaging with one involved in the Greek life.

Drugs and alcohol are serious things to get into especially when living without parents. The best advise is to be responsible and think of your future! I feel peer pressure is a thing of the past but if worst comes to worst you can always say your driving and no one will argue!

Texas State has great architecture with beautiful interiors as well as exteriors! The rec is one of the best in the nation and is green! All the of the cardio machines help power some of Texas State when students use them. The student center is perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth, in need for a nap, or a knack for billiards!

Guys & Girls:
THe beauty of college is that you get to wear what ever you want, from a ball gown to your favorite comfy sweats. Which most girls take advantage of when its just a bit too early to look cute. but there's no doubt that they clean up good for the long awaited weekend. guys on the other hand don't have to try as hard to look good. they roll in wearing jeans and any t-shirt and its no effort at all.
Both guys and girls at Texas State and the best of the bunch!

There are computers all over campus. It is convenient to have your own but not necessary. the computers on campus are top of the line and ive never been in computer lab that was full. printing is so easy unless the system goes down which does happen from time to time. But tech support tries their hardest to bring it back up in a hurry!

We look forward to the sunny days where the students can get a nice tan on bikini hill and take a dip in the river. We dread the windy days because of the breeze-way underneath Alkek, the library, because the cold wind hits us hard and sharp but thank goodness were never far from an air conditioned building.

Athletics at Texas State University are growing rapidly. The football team has gone D-1 in the past three years from the WAC conference to the Sunbelt. Bobcats love their football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer and even quittch!

I love all the diversity on campus! I meet new people everyday who are different than me who i can learn from and see the world differently. Its a great environment to run around in.

Parking on campus is a nightmare! its so hard to find a spot especially for commuters because residents buy the cheaper resident passes instead of the resident passes. And there are less spots than permits given out in the year. Parking services are very strict and will give anyone a ticket.

Health & Safety:
Safety is very important on campus. Late at night there is a service called Bobbies who pick up girls who are walking around late at night who want a lift to their destination to ensure they get there safely. It is very helpful and super useful if your just tired and wanna catch a quick ride.

As long as your following the rules, make friends with your RA, and respect the law enforcement you'll be fine!

The town on San Marcos has about 36,000 residents and of those 36,000, about 34,000 are Texas State University students. The easiest way to unwind on the weekend is to grab a few handfuls of your close friends and head out for a night on the town! Whether it be the various bars and clubs around the Square or the house parties up in the hill country, its never a dull weekend. Even if your underage, there are dollar movies and hookah bars, plus if your feeling a little adventurous you could always jump in the river.

There are so many places to get food around campus. There are quick pick up style restaurants to buffet style eating all for a reasonable price and on every corner on campus! There is so much variety from pizza, to chicken and all the way back to vegetarian. Even coffee shops for those slower mornings.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
