The people are very nice and welcoming. I haven't met very many rude people.

The dining halls have a lot of food but nothing to get excited over. The food courts have better food but not enough to fill you up.

Texas state campus has a lot of hills so when it rains geting to class can be some what difficult.

It has been a hassle to get the money necessary to pay for classes from the financial aid office.

There are always computers available, you may have to go to another building but i have always been able to find a computer.

I live at the retreat apartments and for what I am paying, I get a whole lot of quality but it could be better. But when I compare prices and quality to other apartments in San Marcos and Austin, I feel lucky to be paying what I am paying.

San Marcos' safety and proximity to campus is amazing. The price on the other hand is another story. It isn't outrageous but I believe apartment owners take advantage of the fact that a lot of college students have their parents supporting them, so they raise the prices and have individual leases.

The safety on campus is pretty good. Students are always updated with any situations that occur on campus through email. The cost is a little steep and there are some really bad dorms (one doesn't have air conditioning), but it's convenient to live on campus. Jackson Hall is the best dorm to live in on a budget. The rooms are tiny, there are community bathrooms and central A/C but that just gave the residents a reason to go downstairs and socialize with one another.

There are a lot of dinning places around campus, but I wish there were cheaper options.

Health & Safety:
Safety Escorts are available after dark, I have no problem leaving campus at 8 and walking to my car. I feel secure.

As a transfer student from a community college, I noticed a huge increase in quality of academics. The school website is easy to understand and expedites registration.

Texas State is a very athletic school. Any and all sports and intramurals are encouraged. The walk around campus is a workout in itself!

People promote marijuana use in the bathroom stalls, also free AA meetings are easily accessible for students

not well organized or suited for the size of the student population.

Going Greek was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I have gained numerous connections through involvement in the Greek community and it has bettered my college experience as possibly even my life after graduation.

There are a lot fast food options as well as sit down dining restaurants. San Marcos could use a little more diverse food selection though.

Great professors who truly care about the students and provide us with great knowledge and real life situations that we may face in the business world.

Health & Safety:
I have been here for 4 years now and there have been more frequent thefts at on campus at night, usually in parking garages and outside dorms, than in previous years. To me those seem like obvious places to already have heavier security, especially at night but I haven't really seen of heard of much. So as of right now my school's security is pretty disappointing.
College Senior 2013-10-14T04:22:43Z
As with any college I would say there is a percentage of the student body that uses recreational drugs such as alcohol weed and Adderall. That's as far as I would say for the majority of students but I'm sure there are some who use more serious drugs but are just less transparent about it.

I feel pretty safe on the Texas State campus when walking in a group of people. I try to avoid walking alone at night because I have heard of numerous thefts that occur. Bobcat Bobbies is a helpful organization that will pick you up and drive you to another location if you feel uncomfortable with walking alone. The only problem with them is the inconsistency and availability of hours.
