Almost everyone you see is involved in the Greek Life at Texas State but no one treats you differently if your not. It really does not matter if your in or not.

Weather is beautiful and when it rains there is usually a lot of buildings you can quickly run into and avoid the rain, there are also a lot of of trees that limit the amount you get poured on.

It is close to the river thus it is humid most of the time.

I received an okay amount of financial aid. I had loan options, but I didn't take them. So, I'm left paying a little bit out of pocket. So, my aid covers half, if not a little more. The process is pretty easy.

There's pretty much always something going on. If you can't get into the bars on the square, there's plenty of frat parties you can get into. If the party scene isn't your thing, there's a hookah place and coffee shops open late.

If you get caught, you can get a letter sent home, academic probation, fines, or expulsion depending on how serious the offense or number of times. Though, no one I know has been caught. Be smart about what you do. We are a smoke free campus, but I've never seen that enforced. I see people smoking all the time

The bus system at Texas State is great. Busses arrive about every 10 minutes to each location and can take you wherever you need to go around campus. Also, Bobcat Bobbies is a nice edition to the transportation system. If you need somebody to pick you up late at night, this is a reall safe way to get where you need to go.

While Texas State is a tobacco free campus and tobacco products are not allowed on campus, it is not uncommon to see cigarettes all around campus. This rule is poorly enforced. Drinking is a very popular activitiy at night and on the weekends and brings about quite a bit of peer pressure.

Parking is pretty far away. You definitely get a work out if your a commuter. Commuter prices are decent but if you live on campus the prices are ridiculous

Health & Safety:
There are the occasional incidences but every student is notified right away of the problem and when it is resolved by email. I feel very safe

kind of old school bathrooms.. always clean though
College Sophomore 2013-03-29T04:44:02Z
Some of the facilities here at Texas State are dated and starting to show their age. They keep them cleaned but you can tell they need an update.
College Sophomore 2013-03-29T04:41:19Z
There's a few good places to eat on campus. Jones Dining Hall has great food but you only get one meal and no refills on drinks, while Harris Dining Hall is a buffet where you can go back for more food and refills though with less quality than Jones. There's something for someone anywhere on campus.

San Marcos is alright at best. The construction sucks right now so traffic tends to be bad and there's a lot of dust and noise. Austin and San Antonio are both less than an hour away so it's not too bad.

Bus/shuttle is okay at this school. Would recommend viewing the bus schedule prior to scheduling classes. Also, you can bring your car, but parking can become very difficult to find, even with a residential parking sticker.
College Senior 2013-03-25T21:09:00Z
i hate the fact that they make students pay if you want to go to austin but other than that transportation in san marcos is not too expensive

Guys & Girls:
They girls on campus are pretty similar for the most part, though there are a number of interesting ladies.
College Sophomore 2013-03-25T05:57:52Z
Most places are pretty cool. Plenty of bars around town.
College Junior 2013-03-25T02:00:01Z
There are many races and religions at Texas State, but I would say that Mexican's are the majority.
College Junior 2013-03-25T01:56:26Z
There are lots of apartments around campus. Most of the apartments have bus's that take you to campus so that you don't have to drive. The only sucky thing is at Copper Beech they NEVER have visitor parking.

The school has been great to me as far as scholarships and financial aid is concerned. There are opportunities for anyone to get help if they need it.
College Sophomore 2013-03-22T20:53:46Z
Though almost every computer in the school is a mac the labs are usually packed.

I am very happy with my experience, the course work for my major (pre med) is challenging and I am allowed to branch off into specialized fields that interest me. Every professor an office staff that I have worked with has been extremely friendly and helpful.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
