Not too much alcohol abuse was seen at Texas State University.

The Trams are always packed, and they are getting rid of the Interurban trams next semester

Not great. Almost not worth bringing a car unless you live far off campus. Pro tip: Get commuter pass and take the bus into campus!!!

Parking on campus is a disaster! The parking police are similar to the Gestapo but dressed in a white, black and yellow uniform. I apologize if this comment may insult anyone or the institution but it is the only way I can describe my experience on this matter. The parking is awful if you have the chance to live on campus or buy a bicycle take it and avoid the parking lots at all costs.

Once all of the construction is finished the city of San Marcos TX will be beautiful. However the city's atmosphere is amazing! There are many activities for college students as well as families to do on the weekends. The area surrounding the campus is safe but every now and the you will see a report on the local news about college students doing something illegal. Also, I wish this next statement was not true but I heard there are many students who do and sell drugs on the campus.

Texas State Univeristy is very diverse. They make a huge deal about diversity, and they make every student feel welcome and a part of the school. There are various clubs for different religions, ethnicities, and gender.

Public transportation is great around Texas State. The cost is included in the tuition. The buses don't only take you to and from school but they also take students to the outlet mall and neighboring cities; Austin and San Antonio.

There is one 24hr. computer lab on campus located in Derrick. I can usually find an open computer in the library. There should be wireless access every where except in the dorms.

pretty good. There's lots of options close to the school with reasonable prices and a shuttle bus to the school.

There are many parties, big and small. Also, there are local clubs in the town square, but if that doesn't satisfy you, you can always go to Austin, which is only 30 minutes away.

Police are very strict about parking and will most definitely bust you. However, smoking is prohibited, but nothing gets done about it.

Texas State is a beautiful campus as a whole. From a distance this campus looks like a little city and that is what I think separates it from the rest. It just simply has amazing beauty. I am glad to be apart of this campus. What I also like is how big it is. Walking to classes always provides me with a extra workout for the day due to all the stairs.

We have sports teams but it doesn't seem that important to the students. They go to games just to go.

It would be great if you didn't have to pay for parking for amenities such as the rec parking. We pay enough in tuition and fees to be able to park at our own gym after a certain hour.

I chose this university because of its size- not too big and not too small- for I wanted to be able to connect with faculty if I needed to. Luckily, that is what I have found. Most classes have smaller sizes, such as Honors classes which have 17 or less students per class, but even in the large lecutres of 200- 300 students, the faculty make themselves very accessible and offer a good amount of office hours and invite students to come by very often. All of the programs here have distinguished faculty, and the curriculum for the classes I have taken have been diverse and interesting.

The "Drug Scene": well, there isn't much to say when there is a Hooka Bar down the street from main campus, but overall, the school does have some good policies. There are emails and other such notifications of drug and alcohol abuse counseling, and it is often repeated that there is no tolerance of drugs or alcohol in dorms or on campus; however, smokers abound in plain sight (cigarrettes), and I have never seen anyone reprimanded.

I'm in the College of Liberal Arts as an English major, and I have found this department has a great faculty, interesting and diverse curriculum and programs, and that there is a good community base that offers plenty of opportunities for networking and information. The professors that I have had have are well respected in their fields, and it shows in the quality and diversity of their curriculum. The workload is a little light for my liking, but it does help for those of us who have to work and take a lot of classes. I do love that we are asked to use many different types of texts in our work; we don't just read a novel, we use philosophical texts to explain theories, political texts, social media, and other such fields in our work, which I think works wonderfully to keep liberal arts students very well rounded.

It is far more likely than not that the person you are talking to is an avid drinker, pot smoker or any other drug. It is a problem the University tries to mask but it is a very real problem here at Texas State.

The food is pretty good for the most part. There aren't a huge range of options however what they do have is good. The biggest downfall of the meal plans is the price. They are far too expensive.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe on campus. However, I am very careful. I never go out at night unless I have people with me.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
