I'm a computer science and mathematics major. The teachers here are very insightful and there is a lot of knowledge behind all their reasoning. They are very fun and exciting. You never know what will happen next in the classroom. This school is well worth it.

No pay, and placement was made by my professor. But the experience is wonderful and something you will never forget.

Living is San Marcos is nice but small.
It is a college town but you do have everything a city might have, just on a smaller scale. There is the outlet mall and there are local musicians that have really great music. San MArcos is right between Austin and SAn Antonio so you can go to either city if you want bigger named musicians or bigger bars. I like San Marcos for the small town feel. They have the Carol of Lights at the End of November, the beginning of December and that is nice...good food. Bon fires. Christmas joy.

I live up north in Austin, so driving down to San Marcos is costly as is the parking permit & then finding parking. The bus pass has saved my life! I am able to get on conveniently after my last class and I always find a seat. The stops they make in Austin are great because they are conviniently located throughout the Austin areas so I can choose one that works best for me! The only draw back though is that some places downtown don't exactly have free parking, so parking meters are a pain.

I am an english major and so I have to take critical theory. My c.t. professor is phenomenal! Deborah Monroe. She knows her stuff and it is important to her that you know your stuff too. She goes over the material, breaks it down and gives opportunity to recorrect for better grades if she sees that you are applying yourself. She is an asset to the english department.I'm just diving in to the process of school again but I really feel like the deptartment overall is hoping for me to succeed.

Buses are available to take you to wherever you want or need to go. The cost for transportation is included in your tuition so take advantage of it. Transportation is also available on Saturday so it's a plus if you want to spend your weekend in the Outlets and such.

The hills at Texas State University can be an extreme workout during the summer time. It can get extremely hot and that combined with the large hills can leave you breathless and sweaty before class. On the other hand once spring comes around the campus is beautiful and there is usually a nice breeze so the hills aren't so bad.

People of many different ethnic backgrounds are accepted into Texas State and I love walking around campus and seeing how unified everyone is. Not just in ethnicity even different sexual orientations are accepted.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe on Texas State University's campus. It is a pretty big campus but the campus police are always on top of things. Plus there is a emergency notification system in every classroom that makes students feel very comfortable knowing that they will always be updated and notified when something is wrong anywhere on the campus.

Texas State holds a large variety of majors, minors, extra curricular activities, club....etc. you name it and they have it.

The only time I have an issue with Texas summer heat is when my class is located at the top of a hill (the campus is in the hill country) so I tend to be extra sweaty when I make it to class.

I am involved in Greek Life. I enjoy all the new people I continuously meet. I feel that Greek life is a great asset because it not only helps the community, but pulls the university together as whole.

It runs all the time, but somehow with all the construction that is going on, buses are being delayed, and some of the buses aren't enough.

Off-campus dining is very affordable! Texas State University is surrounded by food places for instance: gummby's, DG, Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, Subway, Chipotle, Taco Cabana, Mc Donalds, Wendys, and etc. Some places except student discount of like 10-15% or the accept bobcat bucks. Which that is a form of money that is purchased seperately at the beginning of the year and is used like meals trays except for off-campus facilities. Hands down definitley I suggest to try Gummby's Pizza, it's been ranked as the number one pizza place on campus and is very tasty and reasonable price!

Off-campus housing is average here at Texas State University. A couple of cons is maitnance is not the best at any of the apartment complexs and parking is unreasonable at some places. However, pros are people in the facility are friendly, the prices are reasonable for the apartment of one's own choosing, and a lot of the apartment complexs are close to one another.

Varsity sports at Texas State University are well rounded. The school spirit is not as big as I thought it would be, but we do got some. The facilities for athletics is tremendously amazing. Intermurals is a huge deal at the college, for instance: flag football, basketball,soccer/indoor soccer, volleyball, etc.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
