There are a lot of dining options ranging from the healthy to the straight up junk food. There are some pretty awesome salad bars if you are into eating healthy as well as some vegan options. On the other hand if you want more non healthy food then there are options like burritos, milkshakes, and the always loved Panda Express.

Health & Safety:
The crime rate at Texas State is one of the lowest and I have never felt truly unsafe on the campus. There are Bobcat Bobbies who will come pick you up if you are walking around on campus at night and are afraid. The University Police are always patrolling and their headquarters are right on campus.

I was really lucky to live in a dorm that had a very social atmosphere. Everyone hung out in the lobby of the small dorm and we acted like family. In some other dorms (especially the big ones) aren't as community based, so it's hard to get to know neighbors. Dorms are certainly convenient for class and getting food. The cheaper dorms are lower quality of course, but they're not always bad.

Texas State is about embracing diversity. We don't hate at this school!

Plenty of majors to choose from and high-quality education, despite what other people will tell you about Texas State being a party school

Incredibly difficult to find a parking space. Take the bus!

All over the place and really up to date on programs

Crime doesn't happen too often here so when it does, it's a big deal. Our campus police are always patrolling San Marcos.

Texas State is a beautiful campus with well equipped recreational facilities. The university offers camping, excursions with the outdorr rec. center and the San Marcos River runs through the park. The university is in the process of getting new buildings right now so there is a small amount of construction but I still enjoy the campus. It is tranquil and studying outside is great! Texas State offers a lot of activities that students can and do get involved in like "Salsa Night in George's" and festivities for homecoming week.

Most of the buildings on campus are clean and well maintained. However, Texas State is an old university and a lot of the buildings are older and drab. The Lyndon B. Johnson Student center is one of the newer buildings on campus and it is a really nice place to be. It also contains the only on-campus bar. The Student Recreation Center is also a fantastic facility with the highest rock wall at any university in Texas. The McCoy School of Business is also a newer building that is great to learn in. My least favorite building would have to be the Music Building. It is old, too small for the 600+ students it houses, and it used to be a gym which means that all the facilities were adapted, sort-of, to fit the needs of music students. Luckily, a new performing arts center is in the works and a new recital hall is being built.

It's almost always sunny and it hardly ever is cold or rains. It is in a small town too so no smog or other pollution. Plenty of open and closed spaces too so theres always an accommodating environment no matter what the weather.

The ethnic/racial diversity is very well proportioned. There are plenty of international students and people of many different races and backgrounds. I have seen nothing but tolerance for different people at my school.

Bus is great and VERY convenient. Every stop anywhere in the city always picks up every 10-15 minutes well into the afternoon. The city usually has very little or no traffic and parking near bus stops is almost always available.

The computers are accessible, however I would love the scholarship to purchase my own. I study extended hours daily and the computers and not available in the wee hours of the morning.

I attend Texas State University to focus on education not the nightlife.

Guys & Girls:
At Texas State you will find a very diverse environment there all kinds of boys and girls. Everyone seems to have a very different look, some people like myself go to class in mostly athletic wear and others actually dress up and really it doesn't matter as long as you are comfortable. When I came here I noticed that everyone is really friendly and you can make relationships fast.

The transportation at Texas State is acutally really good, there is always buses coming around so you will never be late to class. Also, the Texas State is helpful to tell you what time the tram is coming.

There are so many different ways to get involved at Texas State. There are over 150 different clubs, fraternities and sororities. The actual buildings at Texas State are also pretty great. Maybe not as modern as some other schools but well kept and clean. LBJ student center is pretty awesome. There are places to eat, the bookstore where you can buy school swag, as well as a place called Boko's Living Room where you can go and take naps throughout the day. They provide you with a blanket and pillow as well.

I am in the Social Work college at Texas State. This is one of the best programs in the state in my opinion. The advisers are very clear on what you need to do to do well in the program and the program itself is pretty clear. There is also a fast track program to get your master's degree in one year instead of two. Also, there are many, many internship opportunities.

We have a good amount of really great professors. On the other hand their are professors that don't really care about the class at all. As long as you read reviews on ratemyprofessor.com you will get good classes. Most teachers will answer your email questions within a day or two. Also, they are pretty clear and consistent with what they require to get a good grade on assignments.

The computers at school are pretty good, some labs have mac computers. The printing limit is set pretty high, and you don't have to pay for anything. Although they could have more computer labs because they tend to get full.

Academic honesty is taken very seriously at Texas State. Most of my tests require that I write and sign an academic honesty policy, and the consequences of braking that policy include getting kicked out of that class or the university all together.

The easiest way to party is to be a part of Greek life. However the square is popular as the place to drink, and many people go to sixth street in Austin. On campus there are golfcarts that will pick you up at night, and the small size of San Marcos makes for less traveling when drinking.
College Junior 2012-10-25T12:26:52Z
Texas state is a tobacco free campus, drinking has been banned on the river, and while the cheif of police did make a point that they don't expect students to be responsible as long as they are respectful, cops are everywhere and they actually enforce the law. As for accessibility, I'm not sure if I could find drugs if my life depended on it! They are not a significant part of campus life for a majority of students.
