Labs Are in Every Building – The library is the worst place. Labs are always free on weekends.

People Do Like to Party – There are parties all the time on and around campus. Drinking is the more dominant activity at parties and occasionaly there will be smoking. I do not think there is a high amount of peer pressure because many people just go with the flow and do not judge if you do not drink. At parties everyone tends to have a designated driver and if not they will end up walking back home.

Could Be More Severe – Honestly, I think many people get away with things that they should not be able to get away with. We are a tobacco free campus, but yet people are constantly smoking on campus and there is no source of punishment. There is a strict policy on cheating which is throughly enforced. We have police on campus they will give citations and tickets to those that have gone against the law when concerning alcohol and drugs.

They Are Decent – A few of the dining halls have recently been remodeled and have good food. After awhile you get sort of tired at eating at all the same places thoguh. It definitely is not bad, but I think it would be nice if the menus got switched more often. Plus, some of the prices are a little rediculous.

Great School – The campus at Texas State is absolutely amazing! I have enjoyed my time here and am so excited to return in the fall. The San Marcos river runs right through campus so you can always have a relaxing day along the river. There are so many clubs and organizations to get involved with which will keep you busy whenever you have time. My freshman year, I lived College Inn dorm hall which was very clean and nice. Many dorms are getting remodeled and rebuilt so there is a great chance of getting into a nice hall. The dining halls have also just recently been remodeled and have great food. No matter what time of the day it is you can almost always find a place to eat. The campus is beautiful and the people are very friendly!

I Plan on Having One Soon – I've heard great things from my friends about internships. I have friends that have internships that they get paid from and I have friends that don't get paid. The commitment has to be there though, but that's a must if you want to be successful

The Application Process Is Easy – Its simple, you just apply and add programs and groups that you've been apart of and they'll review your grades as well. There really wasn't any special applications to do.

Their aren't many, and most of them are GPA based. I'm not the brightest student nor the richest so it's hard to find scholarships at my school for me

Tough Love – The business program I am attending is rough, it's be said before I enrolled that it is hard and difficult but the professors care and give you so many resources to succeed, I actually learn and retain a lot of information.

The Greek life at this campus is very social. Constant activities are under the supervision of the fraternities and sororities. From flag football to weekly basketball games to themed parties to major events including talent shows. There is a definite distinction between Greeks and non-Greeks but the relationships between the two groups are the same as if there were no difference at all. Greek housing can be selective. It can go from no housing to being very selective with who lives in one or two houses in the area.

Texas Is Bipolar but You Have to Love It – The weather here, in San Marcos, is unpredictable at times. When it rains, it pours. Students running from building to building is a clear indicator of that. Rain boots definitely required! However, the heat is not unbearable. It is actually a mild heat that leads to many students spending their extra time at Sewell Park.

Professors are very helpful, the school provides internship information and job openenings on campus through the campus web page. While it is up to the student to pursue these openings they are definitely not far and few inbetween.
College Senior 2012-07-13T19:52:43Z
Don't Look for Trouble – As far as overall strictness goes it varies between professors as some choose to write off the attendence policies and others live by it. The policy force on campus does not go looking to bust students however if illegal activities or activities endagering students are being committed it is the officers duty to acess these activities.

Guys & Girls:
A Good Variation – There is a good population of men to women at Texas State Universtity, however i'm sure it differs between schools (business, liberal arts, music, scienc, etc.) and major. The campus populus is very friendly there is rarely conflict and while the University is known as a "party" school I feel that every school has a party environment and it is honestly up to the individual as to whether the partake in these actions or not.

Living on Campus – As a incoming freshman I had to live on campus in a community style dorm, which in all honesty sucked and took sometime to get used to, but after a few weeks had passed it began to get better and better. Every freshman student should experience a community style dorm, it allows you to interact with your peers also, meet alot of new people, and also allows a sense of gratefulness to arise, because having to share bathrooms and rooms with a complete stranger is something that takes time in gettin used to.

Writing Intensive – Well the process of getting into my program was not too hard, my acceptance process was mainly was based on my GPA and my SAT scores. The difficulties that I have encountered is being able to concentrate and get a "one on one" relationship with my professors, which is kind of hard to do when each class consist of 200 plus students. The most important criteria for admission is the SAT scores. Well as i get futher into my program I will have to take national test and apply into courses to get my degree. One tip I can offer about the admission process is not to wait and procrastinate in applying to colleges because the process may take a while and in the meantime you good be missing out on classes and living arrangements.

As a chemistry major it is very important to know your surroundings and what is happening or has happened in the world. In studying my minor of anthropology it has definately helped me to interact with my surroundings and the surroundings of others to further my knowledge. I have not taken any internships yet,but i plan on taking one, in which i work at a body farm. The only concern about finding an intership is the conflict of time consumption and the location, however it is important it get into an internship.

Chemistry's Importance – I am very happy with my degree program, its what I always wanted to do when I was younger. If I could do it all, I would definately put more time and effort into my high school chemistry courses. My career goals is to recieve my master's and doctorates in Chemisty and pursue my dream in becoming a Forensic Scientist. Only concern about finding a job in my career field is having to relocate to a different city or state, but I am willing to make the sacrifice to pursue the career I love.

Something for Everybody – We have such a mix of ages at Texas State with the large group of transfer, military, and fresh out of high school students. It seems that most students are in really nice shape and tend to care about their health as well. We have an amazing studnet rec center that is greatly used and the fact that campus is built throughout hills may be why the girls can party and still stay in shape.

Our sports teams are fantastic and have great seasons, but being so close to Austin, the attention gets drawn away from Texas State when there's such a large focus on the Texas Longhorns.

Decent Instructors – Some of the Professors move the class ahead too quickly and would rather teach the material than have the students understand it and grasp their concepts.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
