Passionate Teachers – Even in very big lecture classes there are professors that would want to you to talk to them after class for any additional help you might have. The ones I've associated with seem to be very devoted to making sure you succeed in their class, for themselves but also for you.

From Monday to Thursday there are booths set up through the main walkway of campus where club admission and fundraisers are held. There's always something going on outside which helps to keep you active with all the commotion.

Lots of Places to Eat – A large variety of places to eat, even healthy foods are available. What's fortunate is that some places accept college tokens so you're not always stuck having to eat at the places on campus.

Feeds You – There aren't many "healthy" places to eat, but that's normal for college. I don't eat much on campus so I haven't looked through every eating area on campus. The fact that I'm fed when I have to is enough to satisfy me

Calm Environment – I enjoy San Marcos quite a bit. During the night it im calming yet there seems like there is much to do. There are all kinds of restaurants around the campus as well as supermarkets and a pharmacy. Not to mention if you ever need to shop for something there are always the Outlets. We have many cultural events or more like festivals.

All Round Computer Usage Is Good. During finals and midterms the computer labs do seem crowded. During other times they are just fine. They have computers that can be used until one is done with whatever needs to be done and computers which you can log in for 10 minutes which are just usually used to print. The network is reliable and the speed is incredible you don't need to wait at all for something to load. Having a personal computer is a great help for finals and midterms.

Drugs Are More Popular – I for one have not seen people drinking at Texas State. Though regarding the drugs I have smelled the odor yet not have seen the people actually smoking the drugs.

Apartments Go Fast! Apartments around campus go very fast and it is generally difficult to get one in time for school. That being said, there are quite a few to choose from considering the size of the town, and good values for staying in rooms larger than a 1 bedroom.

Tram Travels Around Town – Texas State has a free bus system that traverses through out campus and town. There are night buses, weekend buses and also some that travel to large towns such as SA and Austin, however, they require a small fee.

Health & Safety:
Safe Zone – I've never felt unsafe at Texas State. There is little to no crime in a town like San Marcos.

Guys & Girls:
The girls at this school seem to only go to school for a popularity vote and attention. Some dress very classy but others dress almost as if going to the beach, or just inappropriately. The students in general are very well rounded and nice. They will be happy to help and put a smile on your face.

Professors Really Help – Although some core classes may be large due to money saving efforts, professors always make themselves available for further questions during office hours.

Dorms Are Alright – I did not live in a dorm my first year but I did have friends who did and they enjoyed it. Downside is the community showers in some dorm halls.

DRINKING > DRUGS – I would say alcohol is more consumed than drugs are. If I do hear about drugs it mainly marijuana.

Cheaper Than on-Campus – I'm living off campus because it's cheaper, and I'd rather have it more house-like than living in a dorm. Just like residence halls, some are loud and some are quiet. I recommend you do research before you sign a lease because my roommates and I almost ended up in an apartment that had a shooting and robbery a few years back. You also want to make sure you have good management.

Work Hard – There are plenty of financial aid options available, and the best way to obtain them is to work hard, especially on the standardized tests.

So Much Better Than High School – All of the teachers I have had are great, even if they are difficult. When asked they will help and have time set aside for students to ask questions.

A Few Problems During Rush Hour – Sometimes the computer rooms get crowded and the printers aren't of the highest quality, but it is great considering the amount of students that use them.

Fantastic Choice I Have Made – I am extremely happy with the program I have choose. My career goal is to become a dentist. I am not concern about finding a job in the dental profession because it is a growing career.
