The parking on campus is not very good. It seems that there were issues about there being too many passes given out and not enough parking spaces. The residential parking isn't as bad as the commuter or visitor parking. There needs to be more parking garages because it is becoming a serious issue. People have been missing class because they weren't able to find a parking space and they didn't want to park in another area due to the fear of getting a ticket from Parking Services.

The NPHC Greek Life was okay, this past year but it could've been better. It seems that everyone was just trying to work on being better so you could tell that they were trying to make a difference. They are pretty much all around when it comes to being social. They don't seem to be too stand-offish or anything. People seem to look up to them and they hold them at higher standards because of the organizations they represent.

The Nightlife is pretty good at Texas State University. There is usually stuff to do all the time. The only downfall about it is that, the places downtown are only 21+ so you always have to go to a party or to 18+ places in Austin if you are underage. Other than that, its pretty fun all around.

Abundant Lab Availability – There is a computer lab located in the majority of buildings at Texas State. Certain labs remain busier than others at peak hours, but chances are good you could run across to the building next door and a computer will be open. If in a hurry this is convenient, otherwise waits are never lengthy. Network is always up. Not once have I had a computer fail on me. Printing is always available, along with scanners you just have to find the right spot.

Diversity Makes Us Unique – Texas State is a great college. They have the ability to be as involved with the school as you want. There are tons of sports teams, programs, clubs, sororities, honors programs, ROTC, you name it and guarantee it is offered here. But there is also a great program offered for people who transfer from Austin or other connecting cities. I travel everyday for class and still have the ability to be involved, or just focus on school work. Texas State is very diverse. That is why I have grown to take pride in my school.

Rarely Gloomy – The weather is mostly beautiful. There may be a few gloomy days but it is rare. I have had less times than I can count on one hand that it has rained. Minus the slight cold spell, weather is fantastic. The only thing wrong with the weather is hiking up the stairs on campus in the beautiful sunshine.

Committed Campus – I don't live on campus so I can't speak for strictness on crime of students living on campus. But as a student that travels I feel the faculty complies with all policies and treats each student with equal expectations. Any student that does not comply with policy is handled with a professional manner. Any student not taking their education seriously is put on suspension, and expected to straighten up and not take advantage of what the school offers. Education is key to the school.

Different on Many Levels – There are many whites, blacks, and Hispanic students, but very few Asians. There is a lot of gay, lesbians, and bisexuals at Texas State as well. There are people of many different political, religions, and opinions. Most of the students in fraternities and sororities look identical and actually dress alike, other than them most people are different.

Beautiful & Lots to Do – The campus is gorgeous and it's starting to become a lo bigger with the recent construction. It helps that there are lots of parties, coffee shops, the Texas Music Theater, and the river, it makes socializing a lot easier. there's always some city event or school event going on throughout the week. If you want to meet lots of people, the fraternities and sororities are big on socializing. The downside is that most people aren't too big into their academics.

Great, but When It Rains - It Pours – The weather in sunny and cool about 70% of the time. During May and August, it's deathly hot and you will sweat while walking to class.
College Junior 2012-05-18T22:48:53Z
Drinking Seems to Be Fun – People prefer to drink instead of using drugs. Drugs can smell bad and can stay in your system longer, so people rather have minimal fun that doesn't last days later.

Living Improvements – Lots of new off campus apartments under construction and available to live in. convenient in regards to location to the campus. buses are also available if needed.

Bars and Clubs Usually Not Best Bet Unless 21. If under 21 it is much smarter to just go to a house party or on campus event. They are free and almost always available.

Multiple Labs, Types of Equipment at Txstate – Texas State has several labs in each building on campus. Most have at least one lab open to all students with printing facilities. Many labs cater to a specific area of academia (Literature Lab, Math Lab, etc). The Library has computers on every floor that offer a wide variety of printing and processing options, as well as Mac computers in every building with design capabilities ranging from all Adobe Creative products to iMovie and other Apple applications. There are even special scanners that allow you to scan your textbooks and save them as PDF files. There is also an on-campus printing service that can assist in large printing jobs for brochures and other large printing needs for various design projects. The labs can be crowded at times, but usually when final projects are due, and 10 minutes before class when everyone goes to print out their notes.

Healthy Options Are Gaining Importance – Texas State University does a wonderful job catering to the needs of the students in many ways and are in the process of updating many of the campus' resources like athletic facilities, transportation and environmental sustainability. But the campus is somewhat lacking in healthy food options for students bound to the dining programs offered in their tuition or scholarship requirements for on campus living. Being in the new health-concentrated population of Texas near Austin, many students expect the healthy options to be provided as a part of the experience in the youth culture of this area. There needs to be more fresh food available with the explanation of where it came from as well as vegetarian and vegan options.

If You Want to Be a College Stereotype.. Then this is the place to be. I chose to move to Austin and commute. The housing off campus is expensive, crowded, and loud. There are plenty of parties though, and the river is always there for summer fun. Decisions, decisions...

Underclassmen Crowded Dorms – I lived in Smith Hall. It is older, so don't expect much. I think your experience mostly depends on the roommate you get paired with. The dorm itself was cramped and kind of smelly, but you can just call it "character." Just make friends with your neighbors.

A Great Environment – Texas State University has a beautiful campus. The river goes right through campus, and sometimes it is very hard to go to class. It's so tempting to just go lay on the green at Sewell Park or float the river!

Pretty Good Bus System – Texas State University has a pretty decent bus system. Yes, the buses are late occasionally, but considering how bad traffic gets, they run pretty well. There is an interurban bus that runs from Austin and San Antonio to campus, so I get to live farther away. The price is equivalent to gas for driving. The campus loop is also very convenient for getting around campus between classes.

Buses Are Best Options – Public transportation is really good, buses go ever 10 minutes

Depends on What You Like – If you like beer and house parties, no problem. If you like main stream music in clubs, it's great for that. There are frats who have parties too. On the bright side for people who like less main stream there are older little bars where you can play the jukeboxes and play pool, then there is also random bands coming to coffee houses which are great and Austin to go to.

San Marcos River – We have the San Marcos River right at our door step, you can swim and float as well as drink on it. For the summer months we are a 30 minute drive from one of the world's best water parks named Schlitterbahn.

Nice Variety – We have chain restuarants of course, but we also have at least 3-4 local pizza places and we have at least 4 local cofee houses. We have Mexican, Italian, Chinese, at least one Thai restuarant, good burger joints, and fro-you places. We are 30 minutes from a giant outdoor mall with options and about 45 mins to Austin where you can get any variety you want.

Pretty Diverse – The largest mixture is of white and hispanic students, followed by black students. Acceptance is pretty high at this school for all religions and ethnicities, including clubs for each individual goups. We do have a preacher that comes to our school open forum and rants, but no one agrees with him and most of wish he wasn't there.

My Program Is Very Good – I chose Texas State for it's Geography program in order to studie the environment. This program has lots of options and the professors do care about the students, you can get help if you try, and the curriculums offered are diverse.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
