There are numerous local restaurants around the campus that are fairly inexpensive and much better quality of food than eating fast food. There is a good diversity of food for these places.

On-Campus Living – The apartments and Dorms offer a wide-variety in living styles' while not costing too much.

The University PD – I recently got a ticket for running a new stop sign in a dim area in the parking lot of my dorm. Don't they have anything more productive to be doing? But they are very lenient when it comes to parties.

Texas State is a university known for their nightlife and recognized academics. So needless to say the parties are always a blast. The Square is definitely for people 21 and older but we have the Texas Music Theater which allows 18+ and that's always a great time!

Mass Communications – Seeing as that I am still an undergraduate I have not partaken in particular events which most Mass Communications students participate in. Although I have taken 2 of my pre-requisite classes and both have been taught by outstanding professors who truly love their work.

I was sceptical of attending Texas state university at San Marcos. I weighed the cons and pros and finally decided I was going to be a bobcat and I wouldn't change anything about it!

As you enter any large campus you can easily distinguish the Greeks, from the non-Greeks. I'm not going to lie and say they are the friendless, coolest people to walk around. You have your " I'm a Greek, your not a Greek so why in the hell are you talking to me" kind of Greeks. Then you got your " Hi, I'm a Greek and you should probably join a Greek or I will probably never talk to you again" but note, thus is all said with a great, big fronted smile on their face. And last of all, you have your " I'm a Greek but its ok if your not a Greek". As you can tell those are the friendlier bunch of the Greek community.

Living Life on Campus – Those many steps from your form room to your classroom is not just a dreadful walk to class you really don't want to be at. But the walk is full of unsuspected food gifts and friendly people to invite you to an event of some sourt. Which will lead to a countless number of opportunities.

Welcome to Texas – It's Texas. Anyone who has lived in the state for any length of time knows what I mean. Getting all four seasons in one week is pretty standard. It never affects classes though. Our President apparently refuses to cancel classes for any reason. But the weather isn't too bad, so it all works out. Except for the summers. The last two summers have been deadly hot.

Words Fail Me. If you decide tospend the ridiculous cost required to obtain a parking permit, then I wish you the best of luck. Finding parking on this campus is horrendous. Just because you have a permit, does not guarantee you a parking spot anywhere remotely close to your class. If I'm being honest, it doesn't guarantee you'll get a parking spot period. Don't park in the wrong place either, because they're sticklers for handing out tickets. Head to class an hour early every time that you can. It's your best bet, because Texas State sure isn't going to do you any favors.

Separate but Equal – I would say there is a fairly diverse demographic represented on campus. In regards to acceptance of these groups, there's definitely an obvious separation between different religious belief systems or ethnic backgrounds, but I think it would be unfair to say that there is any legitimate animosity between the groups. The campus is pretty 'live and let live'.

Travel With the Tram – If you need to get anywhere in San Marcos and you don't have a car the tram is your best bet, they have an app (although it needs a little improvement) that tells you the stops and which tram will take you where.

We Aren't a Party School. Although we have the reputation of being a party school it's not the main focus. Yes, we have our fair share of parties, but alcohol and weed aren't in use as much as perceived. I would have to say the abuse of Adderal is an extremely large issue though.

Hills Abound – The hills on campus are gorgeous and create a more interesting campus than a flat one, however taking all the stairs is killer on my legs, and the wheelchair ramps are zig zagged in far reaches of the campus making it frustrating for anyone with a need for them.

It's Awesome Here! Texas State is a beautiful campus with a huge diversity of students and staff. Everyone is friendly! The only downfall is the huge amount of construction and stairs, but it's a good exercise!

There is a variety of food options, which is great, but not all dining halls are open all the time. Only one out of five halls are "green" and we are pushing for all of them to be.

Great School – Texas State University is a small college that offers many opportunities. The McCoy Business College is new and state-of-the-art. The professors are strict but approachable.

Fans Love the Bobcats – Current students, Texas State alumni, and local residents love those Bobcats, whether the team is women's softball or football. The sports teams are frequently is state and national competitions.

The Scenic View and the Education – I think a lot of the educators are a+ and stay on top of their research plus the scenic view on campus is beautiful.

Health & Safety:
Safety Is Not and Issue – There is an alert system in every class so that everyone is informed as soon as something occurs. Also they alert system is avaliable on cell phones so we get a message via text.

San Marcos....One of a Kind – Since the city of San Marcos is relatively small Texas State University takes over and represents the City of San Marcos. Through out the city of San Marcos there is a vibe of relaxation with the San Marcos River running through campus gives the students and the residents a very calm traquil place to live and surround yourself with. One thing that made me choose Texas State University as my first choice was that they had an amazing Health Information Management Program which in Texas there are only a few colleges that have a program that is very specialized. I love Texas State!

Since I am in the Health Professions bulding we have a designated computer lab which the printer is always malfunctioning which causes all the students to go to the library which there is always a wait to print and line to get on an acutal computer. I would have to give them a grade of B, but really depending on what actual speciality within the university the situation may be different.

Health & Safety:
Very Safe – I feel that Texas State University goes out of their way to maintain high safety standards throughout the entire day on campus and off campus. They have a text messaging and e-mail system that lets you know when something is going on thats not in the normal daily opperation. Which I appreciate very much, when you are aware of mishaps it prepares everyone.

In the Mccoy business school that Texas State has, there is a stock ticker. The school not only offers being able to take an actual stock trading class to graduate students, but to undergraduates as sell. The students are allowed to invest the school's actual money. It is a great concept!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
