We Aren't a Party School. Although we have the reputation of being a party school it's not the main focus. Yes, we have our fair share of parties, but alcohol and weed aren't in use as much as perceived. I would have to say the abuse of Adderal is an extremely large issue though.

Hills Abound – The hills on campus are gorgeous and create a more interesting campus than a flat one, however taking all the stairs is killer on my legs, and the wheelchair ramps are zig zagged in far reaches of the campus making it frustrating for anyone with a need for them.

It's Awesome Here! Texas State is a beautiful campus with a huge diversity of students and staff. Everyone is friendly! The only downfall is the huge amount of construction and stairs, but it's a good exercise!

There is a variety of food options, which is great, but not all dining halls are open all the time. Only one out of five halls are "green" and we are pushing for all of them to be.

San Marcos....One of a Kind – Since the city of San Marcos is relatively small Texas State University takes over and represents the City of San Marcos. Through out the city of San Marcos there is a vibe of relaxation with the San Marcos River running through campus gives the students and the residents a very calm traquil place to live and surround yourself with. One thing that made me choose Texas State University as my first choice was that they had an amazing Health Information Management Program which in Texas there are only a few colleges that have a program that is very specialized. I love Texas State!

Since I am in the Health Professions bulding we have a designated computer lab which the printer is always malfunctioning which causes all the students to go to the library which there is always a wait to print and line to get on an acutal computer. I would have to give them a grade of B, but really depending on what actual speciality within the university the situation may be different.

Health & Safety:
Very Safe – I feel that Texas State University goes out of their way to maintain high safety standards throughout the entire day on campus and off campus. They have a text messaging and e-mail system that lets you know when something is going on thats not in the normal daily opperation. Which I appreciate very much, when you are aware of mishaps it prepares everyone.

In the Mccoy business school that Texas State has, there is a stock ticker. The school not only offers being able to take an actual stock trading class to graduate students, but to undergraduates as sell. The students are allowed to invest the school's actual money. It is a great concept!

The Greeks Try but the Underdogs Prevail – I am personally not in a sorority or really know very many guys in fraternities. They are all constantly in the quad and try to get new pledges or people to support them. Most of them are very polite and kind to everyone, others hold up the stereotype of being jerks and superficial people. I stick with my non greek friends and we have fun without any of the frat or sorority parties.

School Worth Going to – At Texas State University, the professors do so much to make sure that you get a good education for your money. I have always been able to go to study sessions or talk to the teacher one on one without a problem. The campus also has serval places to study and get help on various subjects. I enjoy every day I am here.

Student Teaching – I am an education major and student teaching is like an internship for us. We do not get paid for the time we put in the classrooms but we gain so much knowledge and experience with the teachers and students.

Safe Campus – There have been a couple of crimes on campus, but I have always felt safe at the university grounds. The school communicates very well and promptly if something does occur.

Texas State educates folks from every walk of life, rich to poor, Catholic to Atheist. No matter what your background, there is a place for you. There is even a Quidditch TEAM here, so what does that tell you?

PARTY SCHOOL....Maybe? Maybe Not? Of course, Texas State University is involved in numerous about being a "party school." That could be the case or could not be the case. Depending on your individual objective or plan in college, excessive partying may be what is more important on your agenda. On the other hand, more studious students may find it more beneficial for them to stay in most weekends to get their studying done and save the partying for a different time. The nightlife is not a forced thing here, but fun every once in awhile definitely helps relieve stress brought on by homework, exams and other personal issues that may come a student's way.

We're a Family in Bobcat Country – Texas State is home to a diverse group of people of all races, religiions, backgrounds and walks of life. We encourage acceptance amongst our student body by hosting events on campus that begin as early as New Student Orientation. At this time, students are introduced to others from their class and guided on how to get to know others on a more personal level. Fellow bobcats also create clubs and organizations that keep current and prospective students informed on how to better encourage acceptance and tolerance. Organizations like Texas State Allies form a group of LGBT students and supporters who are advocates for acceptance and freedom of sexual orientation. There are many more to name, but that just goes to show that Texas State has a little bit of everything, and we continue to welcome even more diversity every year.
