The Rec Center Is the Best – The Rec Center is the best spot to be in San Marcos. It has dance classes, Zomba, yoga and of course lots of exercising equipment.

Everything in walking distance is 21 and up. In order to have fun you have to travel to 6th street in Austin

Alcohol and Drugs – I have never seen people drink or do drugs around school. People say that there is drug and alcohol usage at parties but, never on campus.

Guys & Girls:
At Texas State you can catch most girls wearing shorts and a cut up T-shirt with cowgirl boots. Many girls are a part of sororities that do activities together. Boys at school usually wear basketball shorts and T-shirts. You can always find plenty of them in the rec center.

There are many off-campus housing opportunities at Texas State but, it is also very expensive. Since there are so many people at this campus it is always a good idea to apply for an apartment early. Off-campus housing is much more convenient because there is more room and you have your own personal space.

Texas State is in one of the most beautiful areas of Texas - close to San Antonio and New Braunfels, and with it's own beautiful San Marcos river running thru it. The town is small enough to get around in and get to know everyone. The football team just moved up a division and they built a big new stadium, so that is a big part of campus life, and will put the school in a bigger spotlight next year.

There is very little parking at the school for those not living in a dorm. We have people that try to park in our dorm all the time, but they get caught with no parking pass (which is very expensive, by the way). When I move to an apartment I will have to take the bus.

Drugs and Alcohol at School – I have some friends that smoke pot, but I stay away from that scene. There is lots of drinking, everywhere, but I'm not too interested in that, either. Peer pressure doesn't affect me, and policy enforcement is strong in the dorms

Dorms are better than I thought they would be. The social atmosphere is nice and the dorm room is nice and big and is very homey for me.

It is mostly fast food repeated. I'm trying to eat healthier, but it harder to do since Commons closed.

My Experience – I love Texas State and I would not go to any other school if I had the chance to do it all over again. I love my classes and my teachers. There are many social events to keep us entertained when we get breaks from studying. I have learned a lot here and I would recommend this school to anyone.

Strictness at School – Drinking on campus is not tolerated. I have never been in a situation that involved alcohol on campus but I hear that the cops are called and that is definitely not a good sign.

At Texas State University there are different kinds of dorms. Some are old fashioned, like the one I live in. There are also newer dorms but, they cost more money to live in. The only thing I do not like about my dorm is having to share a small room.

I have learned that calling the financial aid office to speak to someone takes a lot longer than going in person. They once before had me on hold for about a hour. After all, I received a good amount of financial aid my first semester but, not as much my second semester.

When it is raining it makes it a lot harder to walk up all the steep hills. It is also very difficult to walk to class in the hot, burning sun. It takes a lot more energy out of me.

The computers at Texas State University are a great advantage for people that do not have money for computers like myself. There are plenty of computers at the library and you are also able to check out laptops for the day, which is very convenient. Printing is free, the computer speed is fast, and there is wireless access all over campus.

The Library Is Amazing – The library on campus is amazing and has so much in it that assists towards a higher education.

Always Sunny – It is always sunny which makes the weather very nice.
College Junior 2012-02-02T17:12:34Z
The Dorms Are Alright – The dorms are alright, they pretty much have the same space all around. The dorms that offer the most space are the furthest from campus though.

Due to Texas mostly being hot, even winters are mild. The worst weather I have encountered has been warm rain, and a few extremely hot days, where I sweat a lot. Otherwise weather is ideal for campus walking.

Health & Safety:
Very Safe, Good Communication – I've never felt afraid on campus. It's big, beautiful, and there aren't too many places where you could get attacked without having someone see or hear it. If there are any attempted attacks or nearby scares, there is always an email sent out immediately, even if it wasn't on school grounds. I like that.

Very supportive environment. Want you to be involved and provide a lot of opportunities. Education is a priority. Want you to succeed.
College Junior 2012-01-22T15:47:00Z
Buses Are Available – Buses are available throughout the day on campus. You can take a bus to off campus sites also.
College Junior 2012-01-22T15:40:13Z
Day to Day Life – All the facilities have been well maintained. The Rec Center is state of the art. Library is an awesome seven story building. All class buildings and activities are within a short walk from the dorm.

Nothing weird about getting into the liberal arts program.
