So Far So Good – Walking the hills every day gets on my nerves. The buses fill up quickly during rush hour so I choose to walk, or ride my bike. So many e-mails about crime...

1St Year Required to Live on Campus – The dorms are great. San Jacinto hall, San Marcos Hall, College in.

Great Professors – The university provides variety of labs with excellent computers. Professors are knowledgeable on the material. Most have been teaching for a very long time. The department keeps improving every year. Obstacle for CS majors is the study/work to avoid commuting.

Great Scenery and People With a Lot of Attitude – The scenery is lovely. A nice river that goes through the campus and big pecan trees. The people are generally depressing to look at. Their faces have a lot of apparent attitude.

The local bus routes are good for san marcos. They have some buses that go to and from austin and san marcos and a bus that goes to and from san antonio but the bus pass is 40 bucks for about 5 rides (one way) and thats on top of 4000 dollars of tuition per semester. So if you commute from another town and plan on riding the bus go ahead and factor in about 600-800 extra dollars for the bus.

When you buy a 100 dollar parking pass, if you are a commuter coming from Austin or San Antonio there is only one garage you can park in on an odd side of the campus. Plan on walking about 5 miles a day to get to class.

Come Here. You Will, Without a Doubt, Love It. You will see all kinds of things on this campus. We have farmer's markets in the quad, some man that praises the Sun God walking around campus, the Sorority girls buying sushi from the Anime Society's tent, just whatever. People are open here. You don't have to worry about being judged or pressured. Tuition, especially considering everything it includes, is great. We are an emerging research facility now, so the worth of a degree from here will only go up.

This campus is beautiful, the classes are conducive to learning and small when they need to be and the student population is a diverse, accepting, fun-loving mass. You can keep to yourself and no one will bother you, but if you'd like to jump into the social, you're never unwelcome. Great places to get fresh air when you need a clear head, free laundry in most dorms, very laid back in the way of authority.

Populous, Inviting San Marcos – Students are everywhere. The school basically runs the city, and the city loves its students. There are great local coffee shops, restaurants, hookah bars, etc. especially in the Square. The inhabitants are accepting and open. I love San Marcos, and its campus. It's a great place to get healthy, walk/bike instead of drive, meet people, get involved with community--anything, really.

Slowly Becoming Diverse – Majority Caucasian but its a mixture of different races

The Rec Center Is the Best – The Rec Center is the best spot to be in San Marcos. It has dance classes, Zomba, yoga and of course lots of exercising equipment.

Everything in walking distance is 21 and up. In order to have fun you have to travel to 6th street in Austin

Alcohol and Drugs – I have never seen people drink or do drugs around school. People say that there is drug and alcohol usage at parties but, never on campus.

Guys & Girls:
At Texas State you can catch most girls wearing shorts and a cut up T-shirt with cowgirl boots. Many girls are a part of sororities that do activities together. Boys at school usually wear basketball shorts and T-shirts. You can always find plenty of them in the rec center.

There are many off-campus housing opportunities at Texas State but, it is also very expensive. Since there are so many people at this campus it is always a good idea to apply for an apartment early. Off-campus housing is much more convenient because there is more room and you have your own personal space.

Texas State is in one of the most beautiful areas of Texas - close to San Antonio and New Braunfels, and with it's own beautiful San Marcos river running thru it. The town is small enough to get around in and get to know everyone. The football team just moved up a division and they built a big new stadium, so that is a big part of campus life, and will put the school in a bigger spotlight next year.

There is very little parking at the school for those not living in a dorm. We have people that try to park in our dorm all the time, but they get caught with no parking pass (which is very expensive, by the way). When I move to an apartment I will have to take the bus.

Drugs and Alcohol at School – I have some friends that smoke pot, but I stay away from that scene. There is lots of drinking, everywhere, but I'm not too interested in that, either. Peer pressure doesn't affect me, and policy enforcement is strong in the dorms

Dorms are better than I thought they would be. The social atmosphere is nice and the dorm room is nice and big and is very homey for me.

It is mostly fast food repeated. I'm trying to eat healthier, but it harder to do since Commons closed.

My Experience – I love Texas State and I would not go to any other school if I had the chance to do it all over again. I love my classes and my teachers. There are many social events to keep us entertained when we get breaks from studying. I have learned a lot here and I would recommend this school to anyone.

Strictness at School – Drinking on campus is not tolerated. I have never been in a situation that involved alcohol on campus but I hear that the cops are called and that is definitely not a good sign.

At Texas State University there are different kinds of dorms. Some are old fashioned, like the one I live in. There are also newer dorms but, they cost more money to live in. The only thing I do not like about my dorm is having to share a small room.

I have learned that calling the financial aid office to speak to someone takes a lot longer than going in person. They once before had me on hold for about a hour. After all, I received a good amount of financial aid my first semester but, not as much my second semester.

When it is raining it makes it a lot harder to walk up all the steep hills. It is also very difficult to walk to class in the hot, burning sun. It takes a lot more energy out of me.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
