Student Involvement – I'm not really involved with my school's athletics so I cannot say how much others are involved either, but when I walk around, I see some supporters in their athletic uniform so I will say a B

Health & Safety:
Personal Safety – I feel safe when I am on campus. Nothing has happened while I was on campus so the safety is an A for me. However, I did hear about some situations where someone got robbed, but other than that my car is safe and I am safe.

San Marcos Dining. There are a variety of dining options near Texas State. There are places like Chipolte, Jack n the Box, and Taco Bell, if you want something quick fast and inexpensive. Also theres an italian restaurant and a sushi bar nearby.

Hugs Not Drugs – The drug scene here at Texas State University isn't that bad. I mean, I say this because I haven't really conversed with people that partake in drugs. If someone offers you a drag or a beer and you decline, they most likely won't care, which is a good thing.

Always Available – Since I've been here, the Alkek Library almost always has a computer available. The speed of the internet is impeccable, and there is rarely a problem with printing, since there are many printer kiosks. I'm glad there are three computer labs open to those who don't have laptops, or there would be a big problem!

Make It What You Want – After only one year at Texas State I would say I have had a pretty great time. You can definitely make it what you want. There are parties if you want them but if that's not your thing it's really easy to avoid. Classes are similar, there are hard ones if you want to challenge yourself and there are easy A classes. Overall I am super happy I chose Texas State.

Not a Sports Fan – I don't follow sports so I am the wrong person to really ask, but people seem to have an ok amount of school spirit for football game especially since we joined WAC. But I think more people tailgate than go to the games.

Get Used to Fast Food. Food here at Texas State is not the best, however now that I live in an apartment I do sometimes wish I could just go to the dining hall whenever I want and get a full meal. Jones is an ok mix of different things but it is all fast food. I don't think the sandwiches are even good for you. Harris and Commons are both buffet style and while the quality of the food isn't great you do have quite a few options and if you don't like what you got then you can go get something else because it is all you can eat. Harris is generally better than commons though, but compared to most dorms it is a good walk. LBJ has a fairly good selection but the hours for the upstairs dining area are horrible so take note on the hours.

Sports and REC – A million things to do on campus. From the tallest indoor rock wall in any university in the nation, to the only university in the nation with its on River through campus. Not to mention the biggest library in the nation.

Drinking and Drugs – There are plenty of drug and drinking use. But that is Nationwide and at every university and high school to be honest.

Fashion Merchandising – My program is great, they just opened up a brand new building right when i moved there, and they have great internshiip opportunities. I am not too worried about getting a job because having a required internship helps get your foot in the door.

I am pursuing a career in fashion merchandising, and at my school you have an automatic business minor in that field of study. It really gives you flexibility in case you change your mind along the way. Also with fashion you get to experience life at a real job with a mandatory intership.

College Atmosphere – Texas State is a GORGEOUS campus, and its almost like in its own little town. There are lots of restaurants and fun places to hang out that are within walking distance. Another super cool thing is the guadalupe river runs right through my campus, so on a hot summer day you can hop in the river and float it with your classmates.

Student Teaching – I hope to have an internship in the area of education. Particularly student teaching. I feel this will help me get more of a hands on feel for what i plan to do and give me some experience.

Majority of the professors are very approachable and always willing to help in any way they can. I have only had a few professors i have been disappointed in. Also, there is an ample amount of aid provided from the library and several programs that help students in particular subjects that are struggling.
College Senior 2011-08-15T17:55:05Z
San Marcos – There is always something to do in San Marcos. There are multiple public parks. Several beautiful rivers. You can float the San Marcos river that runs right through campus or head right down to New Braunfels and float the Comal or Guadalupe
