Go for Res College, nicest dorms, closest to everything. The other dorms are so-so. Avoid Bexar hall unless you enjoy hanging out around drunk jerks all the time. Besides that its hit and miss.

School doesn't allow smoking on campus, but that's better for everybody's health. They can be really strict on drinking, but if you're doing it in your dorm it really depends on your R.A's. But the cops will write you up pretty fast. Thats really it

Guys & Girls:
The People – The girls are hot, the guys are muscle bound. If you're into looks than this is the place. People dress well, interests are partying... And ummm... Partying...
Social life as is above.

There probably arn't proportionality a lot of greeks here, but they are very active in the school. They do lots of good for orginization through raising money and such. But they are pretty much all the stereotypical fratters and sorority people. I've got good friends who are Greek. But for the most part I avoid them, because the most obvious ones are also the biggest jerks. But great programs and most of em ain't jerks. As far as I know us "non-Greeks" view them as a alright.

Health & Safety:
Pretty Good – I've never not felt safe, and never heard of anything worse than bikes being stolen. There are not many police officers, but they do their job. They can be seen driving around campus on electric buggies untill about midnight. Even past then, say... 4-5 I've never felt unsafe. Just keep your doors locked and such.

Electrical Engineering – Just started it, but its not accredited so I'm probably going to be switching universities if TxState isn't going to get accredited before I'd be graduating

There is a big social life here, but also we have beautiful scenery.
College Senior 2011-10-11T19:19:19Z
There are many greek sororities and frats to become involved with. However, they are all stereotyped as party goes and not academically inclined.

It's Hot.. Still. It doesn't rain that often here in Texas, and when it does we are all thrilled! you will still see people at the river. When it's hot it's the perfect river weather.

San Marvelous Review – San Marcos is awesome! The people are really friendly, and the River that runs through town gives students plenty to do in their time off. The townspeople are very friendly, and apartments are reasonably priced

San Marvelous Review – Very much like a small town, but with a big population! The professors care about you, and take the time to get to know you. You run into people you know every time you go to HEB. Big enough that you can be "just a number" if you like the anonymity, but small enough that you don't have to be. The townspeople are great, and the San Marcos River runs straight through Campus, providing a plethora of activities.

Dining Options – there are many different dining halls on campus and ways to pay for your food. They have updated/renovated a couple of them which is nice.

Guys & Girls:
Good Looking Crowd – I will say it. There are a lot of hot guys on campus. You have jocks, musicians (living 30 minutes from the Live Music Capital of the World), nerds (some cute, some not so cute), etc. Most are kind of preppy. It seems like the girls only wear t-shirts and gym shorts or dress kind of slutty. However, a lot of the girls seem to have a more natural beauty to them, so they don't really need to dress up.
Haven't heard any weird accents.

Fairly Mixed for a School in the Bible Belt – There is a fair mixture of African American, Hispanics, and White people across campus. The majority of students work while going to school and are from somewhat similar economic backgrounds (lower-upper middle class). College Republicans and Democrats meet every week on the same day. Christianity is (seemingly) everywhere - be prepared for bible versus chalked on the sidewalk every now and then - but I know of Hindu, Buddhist, and other religious festivals that take place on campus.

Health & Safety:
Feels Safe, but You May Not Know All Problems – I haven't felt particularly unsafe, however recently there was a man with a knife on campus and I didn't know about it until after I had walked to the bus stop, used the transit system, walked half of campus, and was in my classroom (Thought we were automatically enrolled in text alerts, but apparently you have to sign up). There are signs around campus that say keep your doors locked and your personal belongings under constant watch to prevent thefts that have been known to occur. Recent article in school paper said Campus Security was severly understaffed.

It's Kinda Bad, but Not Horrible – There are enough parking spots, but not in places near classes, or hot spots. I often hear students and professors complaining about it, but I don't own a car, so I don't have any personal experience with it. I do know however, that Texas State University is very strict. There is an HEB near campus, and the local towing company literally hangs out there waiting for students to park there, and walk to class. When they get out of class, and walk back to HEB to get there car, it's usually gone.

The Burleson Dorm – The dorms all range in quality. The one I lived in while I was living on campus was Burleson, the only one without air conditioning. It was pretty bad during the summer because of the Texas heat, but it was cheap enough to compensate for it. The other dorms had air conditioning, but were more expensive. The atmosphere was great in the Burleson dorm though. Since we had no ac in our rooms, everyone would hang out in the front, and chat with each other, near the fans.

Very Nice People – the financial aid department is great they help you with any questions you have and make sure you're taking care of financially

You can catch the tram to the city of austin for 12 dollars it is so convenient and awesome.

Frats Aren't for Me – the frat parties are fun and the concept of it makes sense but i personally feel that partying at other events is more fun minus the exclusivity

Love the Campus, Not the Hills – I have a heart condition, so it is really irritating that I can't take two steps without panting. Especially since this is Texas heat, climbing hills just to get to class and home every minute is too exhausting...
College Junior 2011-09-17T01:25:05Z
I Don't Affiliate With It – I'm not a drinker, so it is really frustrating to have to sit through 2 hour classes about not drinking and the "exaggeration of the social norm" on college campuses. Then to have to waste my time trying to honestly answer the stupid long surveys that don't give you an option if you don't drink so their results are faulty. If we don't take that 2 hour survey, we can't register for classes. I'm just tired of hearing about drugs and alcohol. I choose to not engage in that because I don't want to. If other people want to be stupid, there's nothing anyone can do about it.
College Junior 2011-09-17T01:10:36Z
No Laptop= Screwed – The library is always full since the computer labs fit maybe 15 people. Bring a printer if you want to survive. The wireless network doesn't work in the dorm, so forget about studying or doing online homework in the peace and solitude of your own room that you're paying thousands a semester for...
