Before going Greek, you are a normal person. After going Greek, you still are that same person. Some people use their letters to an advantage... but then those are the ones who cross when they are a senior and know they are about to be out of school. Greek Life at Texas State is fairly chilled and the Greeks (myself included) are very cool people. Parties all the time yet still passing our classes... some (myself included) are even on the deans list, president's honor roll, and even a senator on campus.

I Don't Live Off-Campus – But.... i heard that off-campus housing is really great. The apartments are cheaper than the dorms. There is also an bobcat tram that comes around every apartment so that students can get to campus at a pleasurable time.

It Is AMAZING! There are a lot of off-campus dining options right near the school. Every fast food restaurant you could ever think of is within a 5-15 minute walking distance of campus! You get a discount with your school i.d. We also have restraunts that other schools don't have. For restaurants that aren't close to campus, there is collegedelivery.com to get food sent to you!

Campus Itself – It is a great campus, even though there are a lot of stairs, but I love walking, so it's not a big problem. All the scenary is great, and it makes it feel very welcoming.

Rainy days, just make me feel gloomy, which is why I much rather it be sunny!

Walking through campus is sometimes faster than taking the bus, you get more exercise walking up and down steps. Plus the campus is small enough to make the walk not seem as long.

Drugs and Alcohol – All colleges experience it, its normal to see. If you freak out about it, then you're not ready for college.

New Apartments – Recently since I have attended TSU two new apartment complexes have been built making it easier to find an apartment.

Socrates Who? The frats and sororities can be found anywhere on campus and tend to throw the most extravagent parties, rarely rivaled by any non-member.

Guys & Girls:
Domain of Appearances – Full of excitement and wonder as one ventures into the collegiate waters of Texas Sate University at San Marcos one immediately finds an eclectic group of exotic individuals, both in beauty and personality. Appealing as they may be on the surface very few can be probed much further intellectually. It is a school of the night life not of the stuffy parlors in which on would find the conversation of abstruse philosophies.

Our computer access is very beneficial. Texas State has everything organized and makes the use of the computer rather easy.

The people who work in the Financial aid building can be somewhat slow and unresponsive during the beginning of semesters, understandably so. They also do not mention scholarship opportunities available unless you first bring them up.

Health & Safety:
Health and Concerns – The student health center has been a great addition to the campus. Although prices have increased their services are commendable and they treat every patient with care and respect. Very few incidents on our campus as the campus police station is located in central campus. Since the students and faculty here are very friendly, there is a natural safe feeling when on campus.

The athletic facilities are constantly a work in progress. As the school moves toward a higher division in sports, the university does its best to improve the buildings accordingly, having distinct buildings for football, basketball, tennis, etc. The dining halls are above average but could also use improvement. The library and student center definitely serve their purpose and are both resourceful. In general, Texas State has a beautiful campus that will continue to strive to be top notch.

IT'S A STATE SCHOOL, SO TUITION IS SOMEWHAT AFFORDABLE IN COMPARISON TO OTHER SCHOOLS. AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT, TUITION COST IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE FOR ME, SO I HAD TO BASE MY DECISION BASED ON SCHOOLS WITH LOWER TUITION COSTS. REGARDLESS MY TUITION IS STILL EXPENSIVE BECAUSE I'M CURRENTLY PAYING NON RESIDENT TUITION, BUT IT'S ALSO A BIT CHEAPER THAN THE OTHER SCHOOLS!

ACTIVITIES, CULTURAL EVENTS, LOCAL ATTITUDE – I'M CURRENTLY IN TEXAS STATE'S NURSING SCHOOL, WHICH IS IN THE ROUND ROCK CAMPUS NOT SAN MARCOS, SO I CANNOT GIVE DETAILED INFORMATION. FROM MY VISITS TO THE MAIN CAMPUS, IT'S A DECENT SIZED CAMPUS WITH A LOT TO OFFER THE STUDENTS. I DONT HAVE MUCH TO SAY ABOUT SAN MARCOS, IT'S A SMALL TOWN, AND I REALLY WOULDN'T WANT TO LIVE THERE.

Excelling in Excellence – Texas State has a great sense of pride around its campus. I believe it stems from the excellency that has been noticable as I have visited. I first became aware of Texas State for its high marks in its education major department, showing the abilities the university has.

The Devil Wears Khaki – There are plenty of parking spaces and garages, however, they may be kind of a hike away from classes. The university combats this by having a bus that loops around campus. The parking services workers, however, are complete pricks. Say it's an emergency and you have to park but don't have one of those super expensive permits, they treat you like a criminal. It is completely ridiculous. These workers seem to follow you and hunt you down.

Out With the Old, in With the New – The university is in the process of taking out old, out dated dorms and constructing new, state of the art, efficient residence halls. It currently provides a good variety of life styles and costs. An example is how they have community, suite, and super suite styles to fit your individual needs and budgets.

The Contract – Because of the contract the school has with Chartwells, prices at the chartwells venues (all dining halls) are a lot more expensive than anywhere else on campus or in the area. While they have an amazing variety, from Greek to Mexican, and even the different halls have different styles, it is difficult to find a good variety if you are vegetarian. If you live in campus you are required to have meal plan, off campus it is optional.

I Greatly Disliked This School – when I first got here, I could not stand the chance of having to live here. I hated the campus, the living arrangements, my classes and everything else the school had or lacked. I hated living here my first semester. But when I came back for my second semester, I found a better appreciation for the campus, I stopped complaining and being so negative and started to take in everything the school offered. This Spring semester I grew up, I grew up liking the campus and look forward to another year of being here, its a a big campus with a small town feel to it.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
