The Square Is in Walking Distance – Pretty good variety of food options within walking distance and many offer decent student discounts. I think I only miss being close to decent sushi, Schlotzsky's, and SouperSalad

Spick and Span – The facilities are very well kept on campus and even the custodians are very courteous if you approach them with a request. There is SO much offered at the Rec, it is unbelievable! It's like a Lifetime Fitness, minus the water slides. The student med center is very clean and the employees/nurses are very professional. My only complaint is about the garage maintenance, there seems to always be garbage on the grounds, it constantly smells like bat guana, and the elevators REEK and are always filled with Daddy long legs!

Awesome Professors! I have loved all of my professors, even the TAs were so helpful and amazing! The campus is normally very kept and beautiful views, though the hiking up various can be a little intimidating at first, but you eventually get used to it. The variety of classes is enough to peak everyone's interests. My only complaints are about the advisors and the ease of transactions through the university website. I felt as though I was advising my advisor than she was actually advising me, and it was confirmed that at least 13 other students felt this way about my specific advisor. I have also heard that same complaint from people with various degrees all over the university. Also, the new online systems via CatsWeb are rediculously confusing and not user friendly whatsoever! Oh yeah, and not to mention, the university parking tickets are more expensive than if you were to actually get a ticket in the town the university is in ($40, give me a break!).
Overall though, I have had a fairly positive experience here at Texas State.

Hot Stuff – The local weather is usually pretty hot, with temperatures in the summer reaching over 100F, and warmer temperatures still linger not only in summer. This makes it easy for students to go to the river for longer periods of time throughout the year, usually starting in March and all the way through October in some cases. The weather extremely effects campus life since most students enjoy the nature outside. I actively participate in the river scene.

Guys & Girls:
Free Spirits – My school has an awesome variety of people who attend. From Greek life students, to athletes, to hippies, but one thing remains consistent is that all Texas State students love life and are free spirited. You can see this at the various river spots on and off campus, and all throughout town. Texas State students love to have a good time.

International Studies – The International studies program at Texas State University is a fantastic program. The thing I enjoy most about the program is the high variety of courses that are offered. As opposed to taking very major specific courses, I have been able to take courses from all subjects across the board, which makes me feel very well rounded, as an International Studies major should. I also know of numerous students have graduated with this degree and obtained excellent jobs or internships in the government, corporate, and non profit fields. This is a very important major in my eyes due to how global everything in the world is today.

Sumbit on Time – The process will be a lot smoother if you take care of everything in advance! You will get your results sooner and it will be one less thin you'll have to worry about during your college admission process.

Drugs are a big topic of the Police focus on campus. Every week before spring break they put two crashed (totalled) cars on the campus quad (to mimic a wreck) and have lots of signs with info on drunk driving and encourage students to make smart life decisions before the major party break.

Texas States undergraduate program for History Majors is compairable to University of Texas' undergraduate program for History majors and also has a high percentage of getting their masters students into further study programs than other school.

Although Texas State University has great and many programs promoting diversity all over campus and incorporated into their student requirements, it is not as diverse a campus compaired to cities such as Houston, per say. Texas State did this year receive aid from the state for having a higher than average percentage of hispanic population.

Just Don't Risk It – You could get an MIP for drinking and/or doing drugs in the dorm or anywhere else on campus. If you get 2 or 3 MIP's or if you get caught in action by UPD, then you could and most likely will be arrested.

Health & Safety:
Not Too Bad – Aside from the drinking that goes on "secretly" around campus, I don't really feel unsafe. There could be more lighting available to those walking around campus but other than that it is pretty safe, in my opinion. If there are problems walking around, you can always call up a Bobcat Bobby who can pick you up and drive you back to your dorm in a golf cart vehicle.

Bus system is good, but I've only used it a few times. Living on campus freshman year helps. I've taken the bus to the outlet mall before, they also have busses to Austin and all around San Marcos. $4 party buss outside the Grove apartments on weekends for everyone. I think it's 21+ but I have no idea. Takes you to sixth street, but why would you go there when you have the square! Sixth street is becoming dangerous really quickly. So many robberies and murders in one year!

It All Works Fine. Loads of computer labs, wifi everywhere on campus. Only annoyance is that you have to plug your computer into the phone line in dorms. They have like a 5 dollar 20 foot cable though they sell at LBJ which is an amazing deal. Free printing in the library and labs.

Challenging, but Manageable. Some core classes are easier than others, history here is extremely hard. It's all about finding out professor reviews before you register.

Overall Expeirience – Great experience so far, no complaints. Made amazing friends and good grades, I'd recommend it to anyone. River is great, lots to do in town, beautiful campus.

We're having more parking made, but it can be tight at times.

The academics at Texas State are wonderful. I have a wide variety of class sizes and all my classes are in the same general are. Professor are great and are always willing to help. We also have great free tutoring. All the professors and lab instructor that pertain to my major, Biology, have been great. Classes are not too hard as long as you study and attend class. Success at Texas State is not hard to achieve.

Guys & Girls:
My deal with the students is wear what is most comfortable or suiting to you. Each person has their own style and their own way they define themselves.

It can always be healthier, but it's ok. I like it, I'll eat it with no problem.

So far all of the classes I would want to take for my bachelor in Animal Science seems really good. I'm excited to take the classes.

Hot and Humid – Since there are several rivers in San Marcos and the San Marcos River runs right through campus, most days are super hot and humid. During the first semester I hardly ever even bother fixing my hair because once I step outside, it messes up almost instantly. However, the upside of the rivers and heat is that students often spend a great deal of time at the rivers, whether they're looking for a scenic study location, tanning, a dip in the river, or playing ball. We also have several fun events held by the river during the summers.
College Senior 2011-06-14T23:12:13Z
Didn't Participate – I didn't really participate in the typical college nightlife. I have been in a long-term relationship for well over two years, and since he went to a college nearby, I usually went there to visit him. And when I wasn't with him, I hung out with friends who also had long-term boyfriends and weren't interested in the nightlife.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
