Student Employees Extremely Unhelpful – Financial aid process if arbitrarily hard compared to the neighboring community colleges. Student employees are insulting and unhelpful. The student has to stay on top of the financial aid process themselves as it is not well set up for managing the process for the students.

The Texas State library is far better than neighboring universities. Though Texas State has a party school reputation, the science curriculum is as rigorous as you make it. You can obtain a first rate education if you put in the work.

Good parking is limited and there are very few spots close enough to walk to campus. Satellite parking is a pain but the bus system is efficient, easy to navigate and free. Yearly permits are $95 and even good planning can be derailed by the train that runs through the middle of town.

Room Visitors – The room visitiors are only allowed during certain times in the dorm area.

I love the fact you dont have to go to campus to do your research in the library. Having online library is awesome for those late night papers.

You have basically all your fast food chains. You have mcdonalds, whataburger, burger king, dairy queen, chicken express, jason's deli, arby's, and many more. You also have your sit and dine restaurants like chili's, red lobster, texas roadhouse, pluckers, logan's roadhouse, and kobe steakhouse and more. Many places have student discounts so it is very convenient.

The Square! "The Square" is the number one spot for campus night life. Because San Marcos is a college town, these clubs are always filled with the people you go to school with. They are also located right off of campus in the cute old-style downtown area which is close to just about everyone, helping prevent drunk drivint, etc.

A Little Bit of Everything! I think the diversity is ideal at Texas State. We have a little bit of everything and everyone, but it is all very accepted.

Live on Campus – I do not live on campus but have heard nothing but good things. I am rating this based on the gapevine.

Atmosphere of Town – I do not live in San Marcos but know it a quaint town and perfect for the college attendee.

The university offers good business and education academics. I wish they offered an accounting doctoral program and offered an accounting program at their Round Rock location. Other than that, the professors, curriculum, registration, and workload is very good.

Experience Is Everything – Greatest place on earth. Good weather, everyone is very friendly and willing to make friends! Professors are easy to get along with and more than will to stop and talk if you would like. The worst part about the school is the stairs there are so many! But if that is the worst part then anyone should be happy here!

We get all kinds of weather! Snow, rain, windy, sunny, but what do you expect it is Texas. Most of the time weather is great though and if there is a problem with the weather you will be notified by authorities quickly too!

Dining Hall Opportunities – We have 6 or 7 dining halls but I, and probably most people on campus, prefer about 3 or 4. My favorite is Harris (buffet style), Jones (Fast Food style), The Den (Fast Food) and The Layer (Fast Food). All top notch with great food! The healthiest food though I believe is at Harris. Every place though makes you feel at home, with good music playing and friendly service.

Texas State has a lot of pot smokers and binge drinkers, but I have never seen anyone doing lines of cocaine or taking ecstasy. There probably are a lot of people doing drugs but it seems to be more behind the scenes from what I have seen.

There are a bunch of computer labs on campus. You just have to get in the loop of where the less busy ones are, and at what times labs are the busiest.

Health & Safety:
Safe Place – Campus is well lit at night. Generally a safe place.

The buses run everywhere on campus and they are pretty much always on time. They are great because parking is pretty bad here.

Fun Times – Sports activities are pretty fun to go to. There'e a lot of sprots to choose for intramurals.

Good Enough – The new housing policy for hays county, disallowing multifamily (3+ non related people living in the same house) housing in the majoirty of the neighborhoods around Texas State is the only downer. The apartments are great though, a bit pricey.

There are many options for finanical aid- if you're super smart, a great athlete or a minority. It's hard for the above average but not genius kids to get money to help with college, especially if you're white. It can also be confusing with all of the paper work to keep up with.

Greek life at Texas State is not huge at all. They do have good parties. There is no pressure to join, and I personally have no desire to. The houses don't look that great and it won't have a big impact on you at all.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone Is Nice – There aren't really cliques as there are in high school. Most people are generally nice to everyone and are cool to hangout with. There are plenty of cute guys and girls both

San Marcos almost always has nice sunny weather. It is a great place to enjoy the river or party at a pool.
