Football at Texas State is probably the biggest sporting event. In fact, in 2010, Texas State announced its entry into a bigger conference: the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Tailgating at the football games is always a big hit. Doubters of Texas State school spirit should head on over to a tailgating party and prepare to be proven wrong! Tons of students, parents, and fans come to show off their Bobcat pride, as well as enjoy the free live music and great barbecue.

If varsity sports aren't your thing, then intramural sports are always taking place on various athletic fields around campus and inside the Student Recreation Center. Texas State offers a variety of IM sports (even dodgeball), and anyone can join a team. Texas State also has some club sports, but these teams are slightly harder to join. Texas State sports facilities are all top-notch, well-kept, and entirely accessible to students. Besides running outdoors around campus, the student body's favorite place to exercise is the Student Rec Center.
