Drinking is a very popular activity to take part in college. Texas State actually used to be considered the "party school", however I don't feel that it is any better or worse than most universities. As for drugs, mostly smoking occurs in the college life but most other drug scenes are not very popular at Texas State. It is easy to avoid the party scenarios where any drugs and alcohol will be present and still have a good time. The school has attempted to break down the alcohol consumption by getting the police force more involved. The parties are usually dispersed pretty quickly. However, there are many bars in town and students go frequently. As for peer pressure, I wouldn't say it's an issue with drugs and alcohol, most people will leave you alone if you don't want to drink.
