Nightlife at Texas Tech University

Limited but Very Active Nightlife. Be Responsible!

There aren't many clubs, but most clubs are fun regardless if you're underage. There are at least 2 Latin Clubs, 2 main Clubs, 1 Western Club, 2 Gay Clubs, and many, many bars. Don't bother trying to get in for a fake I.D...you'll get busted in most places. Ask around for which bars will bust you for sure (one is Bar P.M.). The weekend starts on Wednesday. The club nights are mainly on Thursdays.

I would say there are a lot of parties. This ranges from the small house party, house-party hopping, big house parties, frat parties, and spur-of-the-moment parties. I want to say we are a party school, but I can't say for sure - I don't have time to party. Tailgating is big here since we have a nationally known football team.

Transportation is so-so. Most of the clubs are located near one another so you can walk. Getting home is different. While you can call for a free, safe ride sponsored by Tech (they won't know if you're underage or ask. The drivers' main task is to get you back on campus safely), sometimes the wait on the phone or for the ride is a long one. By the way, TEXAS TECH STUDENTS SUCK AT DRIVING. Don't go partying or clubbing in winter. Most people here have trucks and don't know how to drive them, especially in bad weather.

Get a D.D. that you REALLY trust. I had a D.D. once that had one beer & we got into an accident Halloween night with another party that was drunk.

The TTU student body as a whole drinks and drives a lot. Be on your guard. Always have a plan B.

Always Safe

I have never felt in danger here. Make sure to lock your door when there is a fire alarm. Also, don't speed on campus. The police here are pretty cool and are looking out for safety and are not out to get you.
