Getting a Parking Permit
The easiest way to sign up for a parking permit is online. You simply sign on to your eRaider account and follow the instructions. Once purchased, your parking permit can be picked up at the permit office. There are a limited number of spaces available, so as soon as you decide to go to school at Tech, you should also decide whether or not you are going to park at Tech.
College Prowler Take
Remember back in middle school when having the cool carpool meant you were cool? Well pick your friends wisely, because those days are back. Parking is the No. 1 complaint students have about Texas Tech, and it doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. Commuter lots are set up on either side of campus, and they are connected with the bus system. These lots are far enough away that walking will create perspiration on even the coldest days, but the constantly-running buses make it so that you won’t have to wait or walk.
For those who are lucky enough and have the funds to buy a spot in the recently finished Flint Parking Garage, congrats. This garage is right next to the business building and is so tempting to park in when the Lubbock winds are blowing and the nearest non-commuter parking spot is on the street at least five blocks away. The parking patrols take their job very seriously, and they will give tickets to anyone who challenges the “Parking Permit Only” signs or chooses to stay longer than 30 minutes in the designated spots. Parking tickets add up, so get one of the few commuter passes early or get a bike.

Parking Is a Mess
B
There are tons of spots to park at but you might as well buy a bike just to make things easier. With the large campus a bike is just the way to go.

It is easy to park freshman year because you have the dorm parking lot. But after that, you have to park in the commuter lot, which is not the easiest, but one gets used to it, I suppose. |

Parking is difficult. You have to give yourself about a 20-minute buffer to get to class. |

Honestly, parking sucks! I hate it. We need a lot more of parking. If you live in the dorm, it is fine, but commuters will have a hard time unless they get their stickers early. |

Parking sucks. It’s easier to smuggle Mexicans over the border than park on campus. They’re crazy. |
