TCNJ is generally a safe campus, due to the efficiency of its campus police department and the relative size of the campus. There are call-boxes placed conveniently around campus and police patrols that ensure the safety of students. Violent crime is severely punished in accordance to TCNJ campus and state laws. TCNJ's academic laws punish those who commit a slew of acts considered academically dishonest, such as plagiarism, falsification of work, stealing, cheating in exams, copying the work of others, and other acts of similarity described in TCNJ's Academic Integrity Policy. Students who break the code can face academic probation, expulsion, and further legal consequences.
TCNJ's campus laws regarding alcohol and illicit drug use are also strict, with TCNJ's Alcohol & Drug Education Program (ADEP) offering services to both educate students and members of organizations as well as connect them to rehabilitative services off campus. Breaking drug and alcohol laws can result in loss of residence, being arrested, and other legal consequences. Finally, TCNJ's campus police are also rather strict in implementing parking and traffic violations. Due to its small size relative to the amount of commuters and car owners on campus, TCNJ police work to keep the parking lots and campus roads safe, especially during daily rush hours.
