TCNJ's nightlife consists of house parties, fraternity events, and nearby clubs. Students inhabiting houses along Pennington Road and other nearby neighborhoods often host house parties. Fraternities often host open parties, themed parties, and holiday events. However, after the rushing period, most fraternity events are limited to mixers with sororities and other groups; the time before recruitment is optimal for those seeking to have a good time for the relatively cheap price of $5 per entry. Often fraternity parties are good ways to meet new people or get to know the organizations. After most students reach the age of 21, they opt to go to nightclubs in Philadelphia or New York City, even though there are nearby bars and clubs in the Trenton area.

Some criticism of the nightlife at TCNJ includes the lack of variety among fraternity events and the clique-esque nature of house parties. Furthermore, students often wish there were more clubs in the Trenton area. Overall, the nightlife at TCNJ is characteristic of the school. TCNJ is a very academically-structured school, and thus, the nightlife is not what one would get at larger state universities.
