There is more drug-use off campus in the bad neighborhoods a couple miles away, but students are pretty decent and smart when it comes to drug-use and such. The school enforces a safe and drug-free environment.

I fell in love with my school the first time I went there. After transferring to a different school, I quickly regretting it and ended up transferring back. I still feel just as loved and at home there as I did before I left. I never want to leave it.

Parking permits cost a lot per year, but are the best way to ensure a good spot. Otherwise there are plenty of side roads to park on, just be sure to read the signs. Parking violation tickets cost a small fortune and the spots are pretty full in the middle of the day.

Madison Ave has a ton of options for dining. Otherwise Stuyvesant Plaza and either of the malls are full of restaurants that are excellently priced and delicious.

There are many places too go both good and bad so be wise about your decision). There are places for the rowdy people and the calmer ones who just want to get out and listen to music. Networking with friends and word-of-mouth communication are the best ways of finding the good parties or more enjoyable places.

Public and school transportation are free and very useful to take a quick trip up to one of the malls or just to not have to walk to a different college campus or off-campus events. There are also pay-per-hour cars which are relatively cheap and excellent for a nice spin on the town to get away from college life for a little while. Many students have cars, but it's park-at-your-own-risk. They really aren't necessary though.

Weather is weather. The beginning of the Fall semester is always wonderful, but once the cold and snow comes it is as every New York city is... cold and wet. The Spring semester is absolutely wonderful though. The campus really comes to life when the sun comes out more!

I absolutely love my English major. The classes are fun and I have learned a lot from them. I see the things I learn in class being applied outside of the classroom often. The only downside is hearing about the education majors. They have to take a lot of other classes that are more difficult to schedule and graduate on time, but the ones who really love it don't complain. Definitely test the waters of other majors first because it gets more complicated the more times you change your major, especially later on in your college career.

It is convenient and excellent if you don't want to live on-campus, but you need to be able to take care of yourself and the house. Also, it is best to live with roommates.

Everyone loves the sports teams on campus, both athletes and non-athletes. It is always enjoyable to go to a home game. Even the teachers get into it sometimes.

Health & Safety:
Security is continuously being improved and there was even mention of them gaining more abilities (like police) to help students and the community better rather than just with basic powers of security officers (like mall cops). Also, they are all kind, helpful, and funny. When you need them they are there to help, but they are not overbearing.

Would not do it again.

People occasionally go to girls' soccer games. That's abou it.

The school is strict about the wrong things. Don't question the offices about things, they won't help you. Park in the wrong lot and they'll fine you, but feel free to drink in your hallway.

Parking is a joke. You either get fined by security or by Albany Police. Pick your poison.

House parties, if you can find them, aren't very good. There are plenty of bars around the school, however you must be 21 to enter.

Most students live in the same three or four blocks.

Albany is gray. It's cold from about early November to late March. During the winter, the sun rarely shines.

The Events and Athletic Center is small and needs updating.

This is literally the worst part of the school. The food cooked in the dining hall, for the most part, shouldn't be served to dogs, let alone people. The school charges $3000 for a meal plan, making each meal worth $10-$14. I've frequently walked out of the dining hall after using a swipe, just to spend money order food from somewhere off campus. The food is atrocious here. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Campus housing is difficult to obtain unless your lottery number happens to be high. Many people move off campus because of the lack of housing and poor quality of the ancient houses that the school uses as dorms.

Tons of bars around the area with many things to do and drink specials that are amazing. The scene of partying is crazy and is even better when everything is walking distance.
College Senior 2013-11-06T06:09:30Z
There are so many options to eat off campus. Every ethnic races are represented well along with nice greasy college foods that we students love to eat. There is a restaurant everywhere you look.
College Senior 2013-11-06T06:08:12Z
Albany has its bad spot, but a few roads up everything is beautiful. I can surely see myself living in Albany after I graduate.
College Senior 2013-11-06T06:07:17Z
Food is ok here, but according to other people my school actually has way better foods than other colleges. The POD that just opened in a new building offers good food late at night.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
