Russell Sage College is located in upstate New York in Troy. In the summertime, temperatures can reach the mid-80s or higher, and the humidity can be unbearable at times. Do not be surprised if it is still humid in September. For the most part, it rarely rains during the summer, so people can stay outside all day, every day. The fall and spring seasons are considerably cool but refreshing at the same time. Temperatures can vary between the low 50s and mid-60s. It usually rains the most during fall and spring, so come prepared with rain boots and a waterproof jacket.
The winter time is very cold, and it snows frequently in New York. Temperatures range from low 30s to mid-40s. Warm boots, a sweatshirt, and a coat should keep people warm. Since Sage is located in a city, in extreme snow emergencies there are snow emergency routes in which people may have to move their cars from the street to a parking lot. This is where having a parking permit comes in handy. The College rarely closes, but some classes may be canceled; Public Safety will inform the students through e-mail or text messages of news and updates during extreme weather conditions or emergencies.
