Depending on what dorm you are in, drinking and socializing on campus frequently takes place. Students drink in their rooms, and sometimes even play beer pong in their rooms, and most often do not get caught. Although Towson police make it clear that students will be penalized if they are caught drinking or smoking on campus, if you are smart about it, you will be fine. Campus police increase their strictness at night but are most present when students are already out for the night.

Even though students drink in their rooms, drugs are taken much more seriously. Many students get caught with alcohol, but their punishments are not nearly as severe as the penalties people with drugs get. Although students get away with having fun in the dorms and breaking some rules, the campus is sometimes overwhelmingly strict about keeping students safe in terms of signing guests in at all hours, even if they are from the dorm next door. Security continues to heighten on campus, and students have faced serious consequences when they’ve been caught with drugs in their rooms.

Need to Let up on Parking

Parking here is very difficult and there isn't anywhere off campus where you can park and still be remotely near the campus. The parking enforcers (they aren't even cops) are complete jerks, and do not issue warnings. They will issue tickets that shouldn't even be issued, and then you have to fight with them about it. Overall something needs to be done about this problem.

Drinking and Checking It

The general fine for drinking or having alcohol in the dorms is $100 and a required Party101 course. However it is easy to not get caught if you hide everything correctly. During homecoming and Tigerfest, security checks bags for alcohol when you enter a dorm building.

There is always a person at the front desk of all the dorms to check your id. If you want someone who does not live in your building to come in, you have to sign them in.

Campus Strictness

Campus is pretty strict regarding bad behaviors. If you are caught drinking you are immediatly given a citation and have to go through a counseling class at the university. However, it is less strict off campus.
