College Prowler Take

In Towson, students are not required to lease or own a computer, but many students agree that it is much more convenient to bring a one to school. Many professors at Towson require students to submit many typed assignments, so it would be difficult for a student to not have a computer. However, a student will be safe without one, since there are so many computers on campus. Towson also offers many labs aside from the computers in Cook Library, and as soon as a student chooses a major, they are often allowed access to that department’s computer lab.

Although the labs are easy to utilize on campus, many students agree that they get crowded during finals and certain hours of the day. Nonetheless, the general agreement about computers is that they are used on a daily basis and are necessary for plenty of assignments, which is why having your own computer could make your experience easier. But, a student could be fine without a computer if they are willing to go to a computer lab for their assignments.

You should definitely bring your own computer. Especially around finals, computer labs tend to get crowded.

Bring your own computer, but you can almost always find space at the labs. However, if you need to print from a lab, that can be a hassle sometimes—not all labs have printers, and at some of those you have to pay a fee.

The computer labs are always crowded, but you shouldn’t bring your own laptop to the lab because you might not be able to plug it in. You can call technology services to verify things before coming to school. I would recommend bringing a computer, though.

They are somewhat crowded. It all really depends on the time of day and if finals are going on and whatnot, and I would definitely bring my own computer.

Computer service in dorms is very strong and reliable. There are computer labs and the library computers, which are available and definitely crowded at final times. I would strongly advise you to bring a computer to college, though (for the convenience).

Did You Know?

“Towson Unplugged,” one of the largest wireless networks in the Baltimore metro area, spans the campus’ 328 acres. This means that you can check your e-mail at the Den while getting lunch with some friends.

Towson University was the first in the region to provide free campus WiFi access to its students, faculty, and staff members. It has since expanded its wireless coverage to provide free WiFi access to the greater Towson community, as well.
