Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

As with a majority of college campuses, alcohol dominates the social scene. Illegal drugs can be found, but it is marijuana that is the most popular. It comes down to who you choose to associate yourself with, since some are more engaged in it than others. Essentially, the drug scene at TU is easy to steer clear of but not difficult to access. Harder drugs are present in Towson, but they are only used by a small number of students.

It is possible that you will come across people using marijuana or even have friends that do, but it is entirely up to you. Even though peer pressure is not often present in Towson, hanging out with people who enjoy doing similar stuff may help you avoid a situation where you feel pressured into things you do not want to do. Although many Towson students smoke and drink, campus police are very strict about illegal drugs, and students face severe consequences when caught. The students generally agree, though, that alcohol is typically preferred to other drugs.

Social Scene

At Towson University, I feel as if most students who do participate in the use of drugs or alcohol do so only during a social scene. Alcohol is definitely used by most students on campus when they are attending a party or other social activity. Also, I would say about half of the student population participates in drug use, such as the smoking of marijuana, when attending parties.

Alcohol

Apparently this is a huge party school- people are extremely drunk every single weekend night of the week- which leads to vandalism of campus property that is ruined for the rest of us.

Drug Safety

Drinking is a very popular activity at Towson. However in the freshman dorms the RA's prevent alcohol as much as possible. It is mostly occuring in off campus housing.
