College Prowler Take

The facilities at Towson are standard and suitable. There are buildings that students complain about and those that students are impressed with. It seems that the buildings students approve of the most have been renovated most recently, and the buildings that students do not like tend to be the older buildings with old classrooms. The gym is one of the most favored facilities, even though it gets crowded at times. In addition, students adore the free indoor rock-climbing facility there. Students can go as often as they like, as long as they bring their Towson ID.

Students express their appreciation for most of Towson’s spacious dorms and the beautiful gym. There are many advantages to the facilities Towson offers in terms of being spacious and having classrooms in proximity to the dorms. Furthermore, Towson has invested a lot of money in order to improve the facilities on campus. So far, students approve of the renovations that have taken place but agree that more can still be done in terms of updating some of the older buildings.

Towson has some pretty and clean buildings and some ugly ones. My biggest complaint about the facilities is the Health Center. Living in the Towers, the Health Center was so far away from me when I was not feeling well. So, I would walk all the way towards the other side of campus, sick—but that’s not the bad part. Then I always had to wait about an hour and a half until I could actually see a doctor. I always thought that was ridiculous.

The facilities on campus are really nice; everything is updated frequently. The fitness center was remodeled not too long ago.

I think that the campus is getting a little old. The classrooms mostly need the most renovation. One of my classroom’s carpets is going a little orange, and some of the desks are pretty rundown. I feel that with the amount of money that we pay to attend this school, they could afford to upgrade the classrooms. The Center for the Fine Arts is being totally remodeled, and I feel as if other classrooms need to be fixed a lot more. The gym is really nice. I love that we have an awesome rock-climbing wall, but they still can extend the gym because it is very small.

Did You Know?

Towson has committed to achieve LEED Silver certification on all new campus buildings. The first building to achieve certification is the College for Liberal Arts, which features a “green” or planted roof, low-flush toilets, and a high-performance HVAC system with automated central controls. There are also recycling areas, as well as bike racks and shower and locker facilities to promote students and faculty members walking and biking to work.

The University is commited to preserving and recreating natural, green areas of campus. Towson plans to convert more than 20 acres of paved campus area to open green space, helping to offset the campus's carbon footprint.
