College Prowler Take
Whether it is some fraternity’s toga party or a sorority’s semi-formal, joining Greek life at Towson can be a lot of fun. The students who are involved in Greek life claim that it has a highly visible role on campus, and many students involved say they cannot imagine having a good college experience at TU without joining a sorority or a fraternity. But, joining a sorority or fraternity at Towson can be awfully time consuming, since meetings and events are held almost every week, or at least every other. As a result, many who are involved in Greek life may say that it plays a big role on campus because they are constantly around it. As a student in Towson, you are bound to come across Greeks wearing their letters just about every day, but a good majority of students choose not to join and are content with their decisions. Furthermore, those who are not involved in Greek life do not think it dominates the social scene at all.

To me, Greek life is great in Towson. You might feel pressured to decide as soon as the first week what sorority or fraternity you belong to because rush begins around the second to the third week of school. That is a very short time to decide. You can always wait till spring semester because Towson has rush both semesters. |

Even though Greek life is not as a huge at Towson compared to other schools, it is an amazing experience. The fact that it is not as big is an advantage. Sororities are friendly with one another, and since there aren't 70+ girls in a pledge class, you truly get to know and appreciate everyone in a chapter. Every sorority has its great advantages, so you can't go wrong.

Greek life is really big at Towson. It doesn’t dominate the social scene, but it is a pretty big part of campus life. In my opinion, you would have to be involved in Greek Life or a sports team to have fun because parties and bars get old after awhile. It’s also a great way to meet more people with similar interests. |

The sororities and fraternities do not have houses in Towson, but I still would say that it does very much dominate the social scene. I joined a sorority in Towson, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I could not see myself having as great of a time if it weren’t for my sorority. When you are in a sorority or fraternity in Towson, you just have so many more fun things to do. I met my best friends in the whole world in my sorority. All of the sororities in Towson are unique, and there is one for every type of person. I would give it a try even if you think it is not your thing, because it wasn’t really mine, either. Since I have been part of it, I feel that it does dominate the social system. For my friends who are not part of it, they do not feel that way at all. |
