College Prowler Take
Students agree that it is not difficult to find transportation in and around Towson. On campus, there is a bus system that is convenient, but many students would rather just walk than wait. In the winter, the campus bus becomes especially convenient when the ground is icy and you are concerned for your own safety. Students who travel by bus or cab find it suitable, although many choose the local taxi service over the buses. The truth is that, for the most part, everywhere you might need to go will only be a short walk away. The transportation systems at Towson and in the surrounding area are suitable but very often unnecessary. The cabs are necessary to get to downtown Baltimore, but you will not need them to get uptown. Students who do use the transportation systems provided find them to be reliable but difficult to contact on specific nights when so many students are calling them for rides.

At the beginning of my freshman year, the school offered buses to take people downtown with the expense of the buses paid. They did this to prevent drunk driving incidents (I believe), and I thought it was really smart. They later stopped doing this because people were bringing alcohol onto the buses. I know many people try to get the school to continue doing this, and if they do, it is a great means of transportation. |

If I ever wanted to go uptown, I just had the campus shuttle bus take me to the other side of campus, and then I’d just cross a street and I could walk a block further to the bars. |

I took the bus everyday to work and back, and I found it very convenient. Most people do just take a cab or use their own vehicles. |
