Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Not surprisingly, there are good professors and bad professors at Trinity. Because the school and class sizes are so small, students feel they receive a lot of individual attention—something you just won’t get at larger universities. In several classes, professors have been known to bring in cake or beer, and even invite students over to their houses for hors d’ouevres. One professor even cooked his students a three-course meal during class! Not only are many of the professors at Trinity personable and social with the students, but also a number of them have received honorable awards from organizations such as the National Endowment of the Arts and NASA, which speaks for their expertise and backgrounds.

Trinity students almost always find their classes interesting. Because students feel that the majority of Trinity professors respect them and are genuinely concerned with their academic well-being, students respect their professors in return and want to listen to what they have to say. In addition, because all faculty members teach both introductory and advanced courses in their discipline, there is a unique opportunity for students to take a favorite professor repeatedly, which helps to foster great relationships between the students and faculty.

Getting Better

The school is getting harder and better academically as the school is trying to boost itself in the rankings and make it more appealing to smarter students. All majors, including the typical joke major Anthropology, are getting harder. Professors are grading harder, assigning more work, and challenging their students more. Overall, the academic caliber of each freshman class is increasing and getting much better.

Intimate Environment Is a Strong Suit

Just when Trinity starts to feel too small, you remember what you came here for when you hit the classroom. The small-school environment makes it really easy to be in contact with professors, who encourage students to take an active role in class, and often to meet with them. Most will go out or their way to help you

Good Professors

Professors here are excellent for the most part, and the rest can be judged on ratemyprofessors.com. Most will do what they can to help the individual, and it's easy to stay on top of class work so long as you're organized and don't overload yourself. Everything here is manageable if you spread your interests.

The Sciences are hard-core, and the English department has an excellent network. Seminar classes provide great interactive discussions.
