School Mascot
The Bantam-it looks like a rooster. Those who don’t attend the school may think that the bantam is an unfortunate mascot choice, but Trinity students truly adore their mascot.

College Prowler Take
Given that Trinity is Division III, it can’t exactly be called a big-time athletic school. If you are into squash, however, then it is worth a trip to the school just to see the courts. Trinity has, in the past, recruited squash players from all over the world; they don’t play around when it comes to squash. Our gym is more than adequate, and nearly everyone on campus works out in the weight room. Intramural sports are great. When springtime comes around, be prepared to dodge numerous softballs and Frisbees as you walk down the Long Walk. Although our sports teams may not get much recognition, they are still a big part of the school. If you are a freshman, sports are a great way to network among the student body. Students who are into sports spend a good portion of their college experience at practices, and students who aren’t into sports spend a lot of time cheering on their friends. There is a lot of heart in the Trinity sports teams—illustrated by the pride students show in their mascot, the infamous Bantam. Bantam may be just a glorified word for rooster, but to Trinity students, the word signifies pride and passion.

I think that the men's squash...
I think that the men's squash team, which has so far won 10 national championships in a row (and heading toward the 11th, deserves some recognition here. The other sports aren't mentioned as much, it's true, but Trinity is always very competitive in the NESCAC, which is a very tough league!

Our squash teams, both men and women, are the best in the country every year. Not many people go to the football games, but soccer and lacrosse are fun to watch. Intramural sports are pretty big. People are always playing softball. |

Everyone wants to be on a softball...
Everyone wants to be on a softball team in the spring, and most guys take part in football in the fall. Softball is really the core sport, however. There are multiple leagues, at least two for guys, one for girls, and one, sometimes two, for coed teams. Just about everyone is on a team, or knows someone who is. Teams get T-shirts made with their team name and nicknames for the players on the backs. A few years ago, a team was even sponsored (given T-shirts to wear) by a strip club in Providence. This team ended up winning their league and sending the club a Trinity Intramural Champs T-shirt, which everyone on a winning team receives and wears with pride for the rest of their time at Trinity. |

Trinity’s intramural softball in...
Trinity’s intramural softball in the spring and football in the fall have become big hits with the students. Late afternoon games before dinner offer students a time to unwind and a chance to develop camaraderie with fellow students. Intramural softball is only for those who love to win and are die-hard softball players at heart. Sometimes the competition can get pretty fierce! |

Sports come in and out of fashion...
Sports come in and out of fashion at Trinity. When our athletic teams are doing well, the stands are packed, but when the scores are not as high, most students find something else to occupy their free time. However, to the students who are involved with the athletic programs, sports are a big part of their everyday lives. |

Getting Tickets
You don’t really have to “get” tickets at Trinity. In the fall and spring, you sit on a sloping hill overlooking the fields and cheer on the various teams. You wander into the Jessee/Miller Field to watch football, or you grab a seat in the bleachers to watch softball. It’s that simple.
Most Popular Sports
Our squash teams, both men’s and women’s, are probably the best in the country. Also, in recent years, the football team has had a number of impressive winning streaks, including one that reached 30 games!
Most Overlooked Teams
The rugby teams are great, but they don’t receive much attention. If you do decide to join, be prepared to booze!
Best Place to Take a Walk
When you live on North campus, be prepared to take many early morning walks across the sports fields to get to your early classes. Lots of people complain about the walk, but others enjoy it.
